Really? If so, that really pushes it outside anything that might be called "Field Standby" at UAL. I do know it's optional at Delta. So, it's like comparing apples to elephants between the two systems.

All we need is COVID-23 to come out and people (including very senior people) will start caring about reserve rules again. People have short memories and some line holders could of been on segment worst reserve language for a very long time if -19 went down like most people expected.

Delta airport standby (VAS Voluntary Airport Standby)
- Lasts 6 hours
- Pays anywhere from 3 to 30+ hours
- Required to be "on the airport premises"
- Maximum duration of assigned flying is 2 days ("will be released upon transiting their base or the second calendar day, whichever occurs first.")
Line holder
- Pays 8:15 if not assigned flying (ADG (5:15) plus 3 hours)
- Pays the rotation assigned (5:15 or 10:30 minimum) plus 3 hours per day (3 or 6).
- Can be offered as Green Slip (pays an additional 100% of the rotation assigned (5:15 or 10:30 minimum)
Line holder examples:
- Unused pays 8.25 hours (5:15 + 3:00)
- Unused GS pays 13.5 hours (5:15 + 5:15 + 3:00)
- Two-day transcon pays 18 hours (12:00 + 3:00 + 3:00)
- Two-day GS transcon pays 30 hours (12:00 + 12:00 + 3:00 + 3:00)
Reserve
- Credited a short call
- 3 hours add pay for each day (3 or 6)
- ADG or trip credit (whichever is higher) goes toward guarantee
-Green Slip puts everything over guarantee (but not at 200%)
-Green Slip also produces payback days if awarded on days off
Reserve examples:
- Unused pays 3:00 (over guarantee) plus 5:15 towards guarantee
- Unused GS pays 8:15 (over guarantee) plus 1-2 payback days if on a day off
- Two-day transcon pays 6:00 (over guarantee) plus 12:00 towards guarantee
- Two-day GS transcon pays 18:00 (over guarantee) plus 2-3 payback days if on days off
Payback day(s) eliminate the next reserve day(s) after the GS unless there are none left that month, in which case they're banked.
Banked payback days are worth (at a minimum) an additional vacation day or 4 hours. Usually they end up being worth about 7 hours each, WB categories can turn them into 15+ hours each.

No point in having this discussion though as it’s a item that is unlikely to change and we have bigger fish to fry….

It was a sarcastic joke. Thought the “🙄” made that clear.
