eh I would be ****ed to if I had to come in on a weekend to give pilots a hypothetical snapshot of an award they may or may not get.

I agree, but they don’t need to fill every seat on a vacancy. They only need enough to match requirements and as long as there are enough to do that, we can be paid in hotel soap.

Most of the vacancies will be filled
TK is staffed
Plenty of LCAs now and IOE backlog eliminated
Trips in open time picked up at straight pay
Tell me again why SK would be motivated to negotiate a new contract any time this year???

Very curious what makes you think we'll fill most of the CA vacancies. Only like 18 of the 91 vacancies on 2306V2 were filled with FOs, and that was just 2.5 weeks ago. What's changed?

Parking 100+ 737s due to staffing will be real embarrassing in the earnings calls.

they effectively open up “unlimited” vacancies in all bases to let people upgrade wherever they want.
Not filling all the vacancies is a feature of the approach and not a bug

That’s exactly what they’re doing. In the crew resource update they say that just like the previous vacancy, the primary purpose is to allow those who have become eligible or have decided to upgrade to put in a bid. They have no expectations of filling the bid, but they’ll keep running vacancies and chip away at the stone. We’re hiring a massive number of people each month and as they come off of probation, some will take the upgrade. Rather than encourage pilots to bid where the flying is, they’ll take captains where ever they can get them and then just push the flying through those bases.

raise your hand if you are over worked???
I just saw a post on here about DEN 787 averaging 28 hrs a month in reserve. Companies talking about lowering LPAs at some bases by forcing flying into others. G line sitting around 20%
the company is not hurting for captains…..all training slots are full every month. They couldn’t put through more CAs if they wanted too.
this CA shortage is something that is made up by looking at random numbers on a vacancy bid that means nothing except to crew resources.

I don’t EVER want to hear any of them *****ing about the reserve rules and the flying they are getting.
We are fighting to get a New, Super Updated UPA- one that is still a holdover from C12, which had its foundation from both Legacy Carriers Bankruptcy Contracts!
If someone who didn’t even have a single stripe back on 9/11 thinks this is great, that they can upgrade in a year.., yet expect everyone else to do the hard work?!
Um, don’t expect many of us to bend over and help them.
(and yes, it sounds harsh. But it’s also reality. The reality that they just can’t fill the Left seat of our narrow bodies so they have resorted to monthly bids in the hopes that the junior, newbies will take the upgrade that others won’t)
Once off Probation.. really learn your aircraft. Learn the way the system works. Enjoy some seniority. AND Volunteer to help in a committee within our Union.
