Hi there,
Could not find the answer to this question in archives, so here it goes.
What would be the realistic take-home pay in year 1 and 2 on the wide-body FO 777 or 787 based in EWR or SFO?
Trying to make up my mind on United vs UPS.

Plan for reserve monthly guarantee of 73 hours. Anything above that is gravy.
first year is $91/hour
second year is $174
what those numbers will be with a new contract? Similar to Delta’s most likely.

I think all major airlines pay the same for year 1 FO regardless of aircraft. J3 Cub or A380 ... all the same rate.
For your stated goal of QOL ... United will probably work better over a 10-12 year time horizon. You can sit reserve in a number of pleasant locations and won't fly much. UPS has limited base options - do you like Kentucky?
UPS does have the MAJOR advantage of a defined benefit pension but you'd need to look into the vesting details.

UAL contract process may drag on for a while and risks creating an unhappy pilot group. It may resolve itself soon but I’m getting less optimistic about it. UPS, for its faults finds a good friend of mine with astonishing blocks of time off when things are conflicted with some system know how. Plus pension. It’s hard to argue against that.

UAL contract process may drag on for a while and risks creating an unhappy pilot group. It may resolve itself soon but I’m getting less optimistic about it. UPS, for its faults finds a good friend of mine with astonishing blocks of time off when things are conflicted with some system know how. Plus pension. It’s hard to argue against that.

I know several guys at the UPS who fly way above the minimum guaranteed earning proportionally more.
Isn't that the case at United at those bases?
Yes, UPS sounds a bit more appealing at this stage given its excellent health and retirement packages.
I do not mind living in KY or Indiana across the state border.

Widebody reserve at UA usually won’t break guarantee, so just plan on 73 hrs or what ever the next contract says.
