I love the people who invent a strawman of DEI as somehow making no considerations for proficiency, merit etc, while their gauzy memories of the past included pure unadulterated merit and nothing along the lines of nepotism or other discriminating factors. There’s never gonna be a perfect system but the previous way sure wasn’t the ideal by any measure.
Came from a lower middle class white family, knew nobody and had no connections anywhere.
Got hosed by diversity got hosed by nepotism

Similar... the friends and family hiring event in 2018 had a lot of lower time peers get the call. Took me 3 more years. Not complaining, I'm in a good spot, but it's just a fact- if you have family in the industry, it's a huge advantage. No help from being half-something either 😆

From the things I’ve been censured for I can attest they most definitely do not swing left. They try their best to call balls & strikes & frankly I’m surprised how far they let it go sometimes. The previous thread was doomed from the beginning.

You can’t say “balls” on APC. I’ve been dinged with a warning for uttering the oh so terrible word in the past.

Oh my gosh, you're right 🤦🏻♂️. Well I might as well join in. i hate it when I lazily close a thread because I don't want to hand out 50 infractions. It's not fair to the others 😕.
