For those who were screaming about United and Field Stand By.. seems Delta will now have it too, thought by another name and different rules.
Voluntary Airport Standby (23.EE)
Offered, not forced. Seems it pays 3 hours if not used, 3 hours plus trip if used. 6 hours at the airport and need to depart immediately if used.
Also seems that their reserves got a few more days off (1 or 2 based on monthly line credit).
I understand that everyone is probably rushing to Section 3 (compensation).. but said it before-
Rate PLUS work rules PLUS soft pay PLUS Retirement = Total Compensation
let the games begin,
be interesting to see what the final numbers are (at Delta), but don’t see this failing.

It “sounds” like this is actually a win win for both sides, as it gives pilots the opportunity to choose if they want to do this (which, some will always) while giving the company some operational flexibility when they “feel” they need it.
Though, one thing that was mentioned to me that should give everyone food for thought-
18hr Long Callout sounds great. But will they turn around and just put MORE pilots on Short Call as they have the ability to do that up to 6 times in a month? [23.S.2.c]
It does sound that, if put on SC, an individual could then volunteer to be a VAS (if it’s offered)
Hopefully these are the types of questions that get asked and answered on their side, so we know what to ask for and watch out for on our side!

PS) nothing like being woken up at 1am(ish) while on LSR- to be put on SC22! Hence, now I’m up! Lol

There are a lot of people here who are for ending FSB w/ no exceptions. I’ve always been in the camp of keep it if you need it, but pay enough to make it worth my time. I always said if it paid well enough, the assignments would go senior & it would be rare to get one against your will. Delta making it purely voluntary takes that another step forward & I think would be enough to sell a lot of the “never FSB-ers” on it, too.
