Leave dal for united?
I’ve been looking at the widget seniority however those numbers are based on June 2021 and I know a lot of hiring has been done since then. What’s the current projections for a new hire today towards wide body captain? Got hired at DAL last year and trying to figure out if it would still be worth it to jump over seniority wise or if it would be more of a wash over 30 years. I currently live in base but would be willing to move in a few years as we don’t have any tie downs from where we are, also would like the mco/tpa base depending on how senior it goes. I know a lot can change and its anyone’s guess but any input is appreciated, thanks!

WB Captain has a range from 1985-2001
UA has hired 3000+ since 2021 with 100-200 a month being hired.. If you could secure a interview in 2023 and a class before 2024 you will have at least 4500 in front of you mostly young 24-45 age.
It's pie in the sky to predict WB Captain. Junior bottom of the barrel on RSV 18-25 years. Senior flying the trips everyone wants 25-40 years that's pretty much every base 777/787.
MCO no TPA as of yet. Junior Capt 737 2013 hire.
Unless you want right seat WB then come on over! New hires into both planes.

Different story in this climate if it means living in base vs commuting for life.
I don't think furlough's a big risk due to all the retirements... moving their training pipeline backwards is the last thing they'd want to do for the next few years. They've been predicting the "big recession" any minute now since 2015; it still hasn't quite happened, and we may be in a new model for economic cycles which nobody can accurately predict. Also so far at least people seem to be prioritizing travel and experiences over buying stuff so that might mitigate any slowdown as far as we're concerned.

Something to consider for UAL is the massive chasm between the current growth plan and upcoming retirements. The big 65 wave hasn't really even started yet. If the goal is to grow as much as Kirby has stated (we'll see) yet retire 700+ per year with required retirements, the seniority climb for those being hired today is meteoric. Cautiously optimistic about all of that, but the current plan is to hire 2500+ for 2023 and beyond. If you're going to make the move, make it soon.
