Just to confirm.. you're a half winger? (CONGRATS!, if you are!!) and yet you got a call?!
Care to share.. NB or WB? Commute or Local?
Don't say the plane, don't say the base.. or where you live.
Just another piece of the puzzle.

600 pilots surveyed.
Fifty fifty between Capt and FO?
so, now.. 300 Capts (of which, 275 are Captains, and the other 25 are captains) and 300 FO’s.
How many reserves? Based on 80/20, let’s say 240 Lineholders 60 Reserves.. per Seat.
but wait,
How many Wide body vs narrow body. 40/60.
So now we have 120 WB Capts, 180 NB Capts and same for FO.
Now.. how many commute vs, how many local? Heard every base is different, but have to guess it’s close to 70% commuters.
See how diluted and confusing this gets?
We have 9 bases + TK, does GUM and CLE get a percentage of their base, or what? Total of maybe 50 slots? so does TK get 10 calls and the remaining 7 bases divided up the other 540 calls?!
Our pilot group consists of numerous groups (BES or category, what ever you want to call it)
Then, we have commute vs local..
Then which side of the house did you come from (LUAL, LCAL or Post Merger)
600 calls will NEVER be a true representation of what is the core belief and wants of this pilot group.
I can only hope they have a link to a site on the ALPA page that leads to a survey where you can identify what you are, and then what you want. Then, every pilot HAS the opportunity to give direction to our NC.
Otherwise, we are just ****ing in the wind… while we waste both time and money~

According the email from the MEC, the poll isn’t a poll of desires, but a “how do you feel about the union/company.” I didn’t receive one myself, so I’m just going off of what it said. Completely agree with you on the dilution of perspectives, though, had it been on actual improvements/wants.

Um. Seriously?!
Pretty sure if you asked those who picketed at one of the events, you would get a certain answer.
Asked the 600 who voted YES on the TA, they will probably answer a different way.
A poll to get the feeling of the pilot group about their view of the company/union?!
Man, it's only mid Jan and ALREADY, it's gonna be a long year~

PS) how do you think the pilot who responded to this thread, earlier on (can't even vote yet!) would respond?

Given that he is a WB commuter NH, my guess is that both suck. 😂

I understand the frustration, but what do you expect when we're in the process of recalling half of the LEC officers? I don't think it's unreasonable to get a feel for how the pilot group views the company and/or ALPA. Maybe a discussion with our reps would shed some light on the survey?
When you've had more than half your LEC's (Bases) push recalls, and of those, more than have (2/3rds) have passed (ie, been recalled).. why do you need a survey to tell you what the line pilots have already told you?
As far as the company and comm is concerned-
Our own management team sent our "Pulse" surveys TO EVERYONE to get a "feel" of how the employees felt. Like it or not (filled out or not..), it involved everyone.
Again, shouldn't that be the goal?
I appreciate the effort. But when the effort turns out to be half assed, don't we have a right to question it? It is OUR dues dollars being spent.

PS) Wrote an email to the (acting) MEC Chair tonight, along with my LEC Reps. Hope to hear back from them~

I got the call as well. Lots of questions with the word feel in them.
I also heard, unconfirmed, that the negotiating team was still hard at it. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If so, would it be possible for them to get an AIP with a temp MC?

The feelings questions are important to facilitate communication. What good is an industry leading contract if it can't be communicated to pilots effectively? Inadequate research into membership opinions results in poorly worded bullet points and road shows that emphasize the wrong things.
