This infatuation with polling and surveys is a little dramatic. You can tell that the questions being asked are meant to elicit a specific response or put another way they don't care what you have to say as long as you "feel" heard and a part of the process. That last survey had a concessionary tone "what would you give for this" ideology that told me the NCs mindset was tainted. We still need to cut deeper with the remove/replace going on and have a more involved pilot group going forward. There is also bad gouge going around about what LTD policies are on the table. Somebody sent out an ask list to reference during the phone survey that said to ask for 50% of highest last 3 yrs when that only benefited widebody captains and nb captains on a 12 yr scale... the fo I just flew with hadn't done the math and was kind of shocked to see that our current Tumi TA Ltd would have paid him more and anyone sub 300k a yr. Sometimes you don't want to listen to the uninformed masses and let the SME do their thing but we have gotten to the point where even they have lost credibility in selling the tumi. Quite the pickle we are in!

Long time lurker, first time submission.
I was actually polled on Saturday by the NH Group and must report it was as bad as you would think it would be. Questions were all over the place but mostly addressing what I felt about the MEC vs the Company (re: who do I trust more). Just a garbage poll!
As a SOLID “No” vote to begin with, this made me more adamant in believing that the current MEC and NC cannot be shown the door fast enough. SMH

Sit back and wait for the TA and vote it up or down. Or if there are specific negotiating committee members that you want removed - pass it along to your rep.

The negotiators are very talented. Their rollout of TA1 was tactically perfect and the bullet points presented the TA in the best possible light. Unfortunately the TA came up a little short and they couldn't close the deal. Hopefully TA2 will be beneficial for both the pilots and the NC. You know what they say, when both the pilots and the NC are unhappy, that's the perfect compromise.

I’m dumbfounded with how useless this recent poll is and how little has been understood. “My union speaks for me” words that won’t be heard for some time to come until they’ve earned that respect back. 94% No vote, that’s what our pilot group thinks of the previous MEC and NC. And while we are rooting for SK’s plan to succeed and grow United we don’t trust management as far as we can throw them, we know we are a critically important, but costly line item in their budget. Clear enough???
On to the next poll please with questions about what I expect for pay, retirement acct, profit sharing, training/vacation, duty rig, reserve rules, trip trading, reassignment, medical/LTD cost, etc…

600 pilots surveyed.
Fifty fifty between Capt and FO?
so, now.. 300 Capts (of which, 275 are Captains, and the other 25 are captains) and 300 FO’s.
How many reserves? Based on 80/20, let’s say 240 Lineholders 60 Reserves.. per Seat.
but wait,
How many Wide body vs narrow body. 40/60.
So now we have 120 WB Capts, 180 NB Capts and same for FO.
Now.. how many commute vs, how many local? Heard every base is different, but have to guess it’s close to 70% commuters.
See how diluted and confusing this gets?
We have 9 bases + TK, does GUM and CLE get a percentage of their base, or what? Total of maybe 50 slots? so does TK get 10 calls and the remaining 7 bases divided up the other 540 calls?!
Our pilot group consists of numerous groups (BES or category, what ever you want to call it)
Then, we have commute vs local..
Then which side of the house did you come from (LUAL, LCAL or Post Merger)
600 calls will NEVER be a true representation of what is the core belief and wants of this pilot group.
I can only hope they have a link to a site on the ALPA page that leads to a survey where you can identify what you are, and then what you want. Then, every pilot HAS the opportunity to give direction to our NC.
Otherwise, we are just ****ing in the wind… while we waste both time and money~
