Delta Profit Goal $5 Billion
Delta CEO Ed Bastian announced yesterday that his profit goal for 2023 is $5 billion.
Yes, $5 billion.
So how much did the recent AIP with the Delta pilots affect profits?
Clearly this is why they came in with their exploding offer and sealed the deal.
These staggering profits put the United pilots in the drivers seat.
Everything the Delta pilots achieved plus much more.
It is critical that you match Delta’s profit sharing and add 5% above the Delta hourly pay rates.
Yes, $5 billion.

Just my opinion. I very hopeful the United pilots achieve the epic contract you deserve.

My understanding is that the polling data, both prior to covid and since then, show that our emphasis is on work rules and QOL. If Delta pilots are hoping for a me too clause to give you a big pay bump, expect to be disappointed. We are seeking significant improvements in work rules, no scope creep, retirement, LTD, benefits, vacation pay, training pay, sick leave accrual, etc. These are expensive demands when looking at the total cost of a contract. We’ll probably match or possibly slightly exceed the Delta rates, but the emphasis is on QOL, not the hourly rate.

I’m also in the cautiously optimistic camp. A lot of this chaos is our own fault, & there’s more motivation for management to sign a deal than some here believe. We’re moving slowly- which is in part a result of the need to address our recent failures- but I don’t think we go to mediation. Contract by the summer is my bet for $1.

“Delta to profit $5B” and “Ed Bastian’s goal is for Delta to profit $5B” are two different things. We shouldn’t settle for a subpar contract, also, a CEO repping his own company with an optimistic New Year’s resolution doesn’t actually change much.

Exactly. The OP’s thread title is misleading.

If Delta is expecting/projecting a 5B profit and United is coming off 2 of the best quarters in recent history, plus China opening back up plus bringing the 36 regional airframes back plus the NB deliveries IMO there is no reason we can't be in the same ballpark.
