Default How much sodium is in our crew meals?

I’m on a pretty strict diet plan right now limiting my salt intake to lose weight and keep my blood pressure normal. It’s been a pain trying to pack lots of food with me on trips so I’m trying to lighten up a bit and eat a little more of the pilot crew meals.

Does anyone know if the nutritional facts are listed anywhere? Does anyone suggest a meal choice that has the least amount of sodium? Thanks guys

Strict diet plan you say? Sounds like you need advice on a portable cooler so you can pack all your food because nobody is getting thinner or healthier eating our crew meals.

I’m not going to claim to be a professional chef, but I can promise you the sodium Is high in all the meals. I order the Hindu meals, hoping to at least avoid airplane “meats”. I started packing Garden of Life shake powder (I’m not going to claim these are great for me either) so that I can skip the airplane food. It’s a pain in the a”$

My Dr put me on a diet as well since my BP was approaching the limit and I was 30 lbs overweight. I can’t remember the last crew meal that I have eaten. I usually have a protein bar for breakfast and salads for lunch and supper, regardless of connect time between flights. I also usually walk the terminal during productivity breaks in the hubs and exercise on layovers except those under 12 hours. I lost the 30 lbs, and my BP at 50 years old is 120/75 without medication. Crew meals are garbage, make time to eat healthy regardless of push time, and exercise regularly.

That’s great to hear.

Now let’s move onto what talcum powder works while wearing polyester pants, and walking the terminal?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have already lost 30lbs (went from 225 to ~195) by eating better and exercising. I’m trying to lose another 10lbs and see how I feel. Blood pressure has been normal.

Although now I have hit a weight loss plateau for some reason. Guess I will have to eat less. I will look into a larger Flight bag with food cooler. Mine isn’t large enough right now.

Congrats on your weight loss Hedley. I love salads too. I gave up red meat too despite eating it my whole life. It was tough at first but now I have zero cravings for it or any “bad” food.

what does your beverage intake look like? Maybe that is another place to cut back. I am fairly new to United, so I am trying to figure out crew meals for international flying that we do. I have a dairy and seafood restriction. I just don’t know which meal to order that will meat those besides the lighter choice beef.

If I am on a domestic trip, I usually pack food.

Red meat is not "bad". Sugar and processed foods are bad.
