Of course he doesn’t want to pay more than he has to, but if he wants to grow by 10,000 pilots to get his signature united next project off the ground, he’s going to have to outcompete Delta and American to hire and train those bodies. It’s not the company’s fault that the union and negotiating committee were so delusional and out of touch with the pilot group that they went along with a terrible contract that was shot down like a hang glider over the pentagon.

I would. Uncle Sammy gets WAY too much. Taxed when you earn it. Taxed when you invest it and make money. Only get to write off 3k/yr regardless of how much you lose. Taxed when you die. Retirement, taxed.
It's way past time for a tax system overhaul.

But of course “it’s all about youuuuuuu” right? What an idiotic premise you’ve embarked on.

We won’t. Kirby has ZERO intentions to go one cent above what you have and in some instances won’t even meet what you have (i.e. sick leave). And our NC and union are so dysfunctional we are screwed. Watch how long it takes for us to get a subpar AIP. It’ll be well into next year and not by Easter as some are projecting. DAL is in its own league by themselves.

All we care about is pay rate. That is the only thing that snaps up. Me, I personally expect you to exceed Delta by the 5 percent you negoitated for covid. If you don’t, then it was for nothing. If you do, the Delta pilots get a 6 percent snap up and then the contract looks pretty good.

That's why we need to take it in back pay, work rules, and pension. Screw Delta. Kirby probably wants to give us Delta + 25%. It will come with 5am first day reserve, easy reassignments, 65 hour guarantee, 95 hour LCC, PUPs, and scope gives, but we'll get paid. We'll still be 1% cheaper than Delta on pay and 30% cheaper on work rules, but $600/hr bro. Mark me words the top rate will be $600/hr and there'll be no back pay.
