Because ALPA is supposed to be the one applying the money they steal from our paychecks to improve the quality of life of the professionals who fly the line, not simply lining their own pockets on FTFPL and schmoozing it up at fancy steak dinners in Chicago. I expect Kirby and management to try to take me for every last dollar and I expect nothing less. But when our own "union" chooses to become an accomplice to that process instead of a counterbalance then the blame falls squarely on them. The blame for this abortion is 100% on ALPA's head and their behavior has been beyond shameful and absolutely unforgivable. We need to stop wasting our time picketing the company, we should be picketing the "union". What an absolute bunch of ass clowns.

That being said they absolutely augured us into the ground with this contract. It was clear when TA1 came out, clearer when the AA offer came out, and crystal clear with the Delta AIP. Absolutely unacceptable performance. We need to elect some high level talent in the future, not just nice guys that want to do union work.

I could buy the defense of ALPA if not for these 2 questions:
Why did we all get shut out of the process for nearly 4 years? They didnt poll anyone then. How can anyone claim they speak for you when they don't even care to ask what you want? They didn't give us anything more than a vague heat map. We had NO idea what was being negotiated on our behalf until they dropped the TA on us.
Why did we not move the ball forward with the self help process? No mediation, no picketing, no nothing. Delta opened after us and got their AIP in large part from the mediation process, based off what I've seen. They even had a strike Auth vote. Meanwhile we're just sitting on our butts at square 1 for 4 years.
I can give the benefit of the doubt if not for these two issues.

You are far too conspiratorial about this. Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence. I highly doubt these guys were selling us out for steak dinners and cigars. Maybe they got into it to get off the line or spend more time at home but I don’t believe any of them had bad intentions. At the end of the day they all put in a lot of time and effort into a pretty unpleasant job. I’ve been there. You absolutely get it from both sides, just about every day.

You can opt out of being an ALPA member but you will still pay dues. Welcome to the RLA.

I did. The work rules and pay are much better.
It's actually exactly the opposite. There are a few benefits left at this job that remain in spite of the unions, not because of them.
