Kirby said the total order of WB planes would be more than American’s fleet. They have 110 WB planes. This might only be the first half of the order. Obviously its 787s because they are doing the announcement at the Boeing factory in Charleston where they make the 787s.

I am retracting my earlier prediction about 25 firm 787’s, options for 75 more and I am going all in on Boeing stock.

Tlop,

The 797 doesn't exist and therefor will be hard to buy.

Boeing will need to launch a 737-757 sized replacement at some point but they don't have the money (or enough talent - engineers) at this time.

I think this buy will be 787s to replace some 767s & 777s. The 777 replacement will be a future drama played out between BA & EADS.

BA is running well behind EADS and this will only be exasperated if the Max 7 & 10 get canned, and or when EADS launches the A220-500.

Boeing needs to get their sh!t together if they want to compete.

Cheers,
UAFlyer

Friend just spoke with a fairly high management pilot. Supposedly 125 787’s will be announced next week. Will see hope it’s not true want to see 777X’s or more 777-300’s.

Interesting if that turns out to be true. That would mean fleet consolidation as we park both 767s and 777s eventually. Seems smart, and it will take a long time to come to fruition.

At this point, the compant should really be referred to as Mc-Boeing, since the merger of McDonnell Douglas and Boeing seems to have been the death knell for the iconic Boeing we all knew and loved.

According to the United google fleet site (extremely accurate information on the entire fleet) of the 22 in the fleet the oldest 777-300 was delivered 2016 and the newest in 2020. So the 777-300’s aren’t going anywhere for a long time. It would be nice to see more 300’s (line still open) or some 777X’s in the future.
