This is definitely a staffing strategy and just a PBS tweak to build lines out of MCO and LAS…
That being said I do believe that flights to the Caribbean and Central/South America should be the future out of MCO.
Current mileage plus customers in the SE US have to be a bit disillusioned when they see that their dream trip to Sint Maarten has to go through EWR..
ATL and MIA sound like a better deal.

Here is a thought. For all those morons that took captain bids in IAH..thank you. We just spent our union dues recalling LECs and here you guys are taking bids that were moved from coasts.
Seriously, No one should be MCO or LAS until we get a contract. Nobody should bid CA slots. Kinda late now..pilots will be pilots. 10 steps behind management...

Dead, on, correct! No FS, reserve ability to pickup trips further out, say two days instead of day prior, black and white clarity on why pickups, trades and other items don’t process.
Enough of this black magic mystery with no accountability or explanation. I want clear cut clarity, your trade failed for coverage, or whatever the reason.
I don’t dislike anyone on the councils. I don’t know them. The MEC chair needs to go to finish pushing ahead. I’m sure he’s a great guy. It matters not. He ran us aground at the wrong time. Recalls wrapping up.
94% unity. Unprecedented! Let’s roll and get this done!
Don’t sweat the petty stuff, contract, vote on it quickly and let’s go! We don’t need a sales pitch with todays technology. Who is really around in base for them chit chats anyway, 5% of the pilot group?
Contract and conquer, united next thereafter.

I agree . All domestic flying from Mco and tpa . Good in a way I guess but screams first early flight out to the hubs and last flight in late night from the hubs . Early starts and late finishes. Ok if you drive to work , gonna suck even more if you commute .

The early starts and late finishes do s-ck, but since we can assume everyone at this base would have been commuting otherwise, they’ll likely be at the airport the same time they would have been anyway for their commute. The only difference is now they’ll be operating that flight instead of fighting each other for a JS on it.

The reserve lifestyle doesn’t lend itself to type-A pilots. If you actually fly 18 days, you’ll make 90 hours minimum, but many months of the year I get paid 76-78 hours and actually fly 12 or less days, mostly 2 day trips. If you can drive to work and your lifestyle/spouse is flexible, the ratio of pay to hours worked is fantastic.
Most Pilot have a hard time with the uncertainty of reserve. I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but it’s a little more nuanced than “reserve sucks.” I personally think 4-days suck, but many people prefer them to reserve.

The uncertainty can be difficult, but you definitely spend WAY more time at home as a reserve (assuming you live in base).
