APC’s mantra is “pilots helping pilots”, in many cases with moderated posts that’s the goal.

We do reserve the right to remove any content or user for any reason, although thread moderation/removal is never arbitrary.

Looking back in history, most things that are done “for the greater good” or “for your own protection” did not turn out that well for those on the receiving end.

Clearly, the Treaty of Versailles, Polio Vaccine and the Clean Water Act all come to mind.

But to your point, I’m told that there’s an insightful podcast worth a listen on the UAL MEC website that includes some examples of past missteps by union members. A little SA would go a long way.

I acknowledge that there will always be the indignant forum users that feel they are owed something by this service, even when they knowingly and continuously violate the posted rules. APC can easily do without their participation.

For all you Jan 6-ers,
This forum DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU it is privately or corporate owned same as every gun forum out there and ‘ma rights’ or ‘Freedom of Speech’ does not apply.

Consequences and Recourse We hope that everyone will read the rules and follow them, but mistakes do happen. Depending on which rules you break, one or more of the following may happen:
  • Receive a warning message to inform you of the violation.
  • Suspension from the ability to post in the forums.
  • Removal of any offending content, such as avatar images, forum posts, comments, etc.
  • Suspension of your membership altogether.
This can occur without a warning and will include all your past and future accounts on the Airline Pilot Central Forums. Unless specifically reinstated by the moderation team, new profiles will also be suspended. The moderation and administration teams will do their best to be as fair and objective as possible utilizing research, evidence, and discussion among the team to come to their decisions. We do ask that you remember to respect the administration and moderation teams regardless of the decisions that are made. While we will try and work with you to ensure you can continue to responsibly utilize the Airline Pilot Central Forums, we do reserve the right to remove any account for any reason at any time without notice. If you have issues with any moderator decision, contact an administrator through the private message (PM) tool. Please note that the administrative and moderation teams reserve the right to remove any post or any account for any reason without notice.

This is true, as a private entity the 1st Amendment freedoms under the US constitution don’t apply to forums posts.

That said, this IS a community by and for pilots. There is value and benefit provided users can follow a few simple rules. To paraphrase “be civil to each other, respect everyone’s privacy, be mindful of security, and don’t put individual pilots or groups of pilots at risk (of any kind). Please let that last one sink in.
