1.
2. Morale matters. Pilot customer service matters. If it didn’t, they wouldn’t have a whole day of PPD cheerleading. If Kirby wants this place to look like American there’s no urgency, if he wants it to look better than delta and Southwest there is absolutely urgency and they’ve made that abundantly clear

Congratulations, you’ve educated me. I thought I knew everything before I read your post.

The early 5% underscores the reality that there is some urgency by the company to maintain the goodwill of the pilots. Whether there is enough urgency to produce a timely resolution to our contract negotiations remains to be seen, but if they didn’t care at all about keeping us happy, there would be no reason to accelerate the activation of this increase.

If there was real urgency they’d get the TA done yesterday. Reference how fast they can get a concessionary deal done when there’s urgency. This 5% (that was already ours) is their ability to make pilots think management is “doing the right thing” an AIP is coming real soon! And it’s working on you and others.
Our union has only really been properly acting on our behalf for a couple of months, & we have ourselves to blame for that. But it appears to me the company is taking notice. They are seeing how quickly our COVID-era culture of “helping them help us” is trending toward FUPM, & they don’t want that. I’m not suggesting we let up the pressure based on their “showing of goodwill”. I’m suggesting their attempt to buy a bit more time is proof that the pressure is working. My advice is we don’t let up. Keep picketing & keep letting management know that the TA (or lack thereof) will be the only result we base our final judgement on.

UAL states pilot supply MUCH stronger than demand.
Seems like the strategic messaging machine is in full effect. The article even goes on to explain that the number of "commercial" pilots aren't yet ATP pilots and the ATP pilot numbers will barely keep up with projected retirements. Doesn't really sound like the HUGE pilot wave that our company makes it out to be.
