Not to mention putzing around at FL300 in the middle of TS’s. The 9’s can barely make 340 half the time.

The max 10 will make the company money, and diverting around weather since we can’t climb will make us more money. Paid by the minute.

you’re probably rite as Boeing has lots of friends on Capitol Hill, but never underestimate Boeings ability to screw this up

Possibly just a little more than the 9 and flaps 40 could be the standard configuration. It won’t see short runways like SNA or LGA, but it will do SFO-MCO all day long with a full boat while sipping fuel. It will be a pig, but a friend at AA claims that the 321 can be a real pig too.

Your friend is right about the 321. I’ve had it descend at acceleration altitude on a very hot day while very full.

Will the modified landing gear in the -10 allow the approach speeds to be a little lower? If it sits a little higher perhaps a slightly higher deck angle on approach would be acceptable while keeping tail strike margins the same?

No, it’s mainly for allowing it to rotate without using too much runway.

It’ll get new tires to satisfy the 196 Vr speed…
