Default SFO 777 CA Displacement Bid

Sorry, guess that is 787. Can’t edit the title.

Anyone have a guess as to how many might be displaced, and where they are most likely to go?

Wondering how many live in base and will take CA on other equipment in SFO so they don’t have to commute vs. going to another base. A lot of 737 CA vacancies!

202 SFO 787 CA currently. Min on the Min-Max is 136, although CRU said that has no bearing on any decisions. That could be a lot movement.

Only 5 bid out on the last vacancy, so down to 197 (active) SFO787 Captains. Down to 245 (active) SFO 787 FOs. So, you figure they would prob want that to be closer to a 1:2 ratio for Cap:FO. The min/max shows 7 upcoming retirments which doesn't make that big a difference, so I imagine the Displacement is still on. Figure they will look a little further into the future on the retirement number, but back of the napkin math says they are still pretty overstaffed out there.

I am guessing that a vast majority of any pilots that are displaced will go to the 777 in SFO. If it is a really large number, some of the senior displaced pilots could go down the coast to LAX on the 787.

Will FO be reduced as well? I have heard about this but didn’t realize it was Capt only. Curious if FO reduction will be included…

SFO777CA. All of them. I think the recent TDY’s give an idea of how many surplus captains they have sitting around. Last month it was 35, this month 21 though fewer than that were actually assigned. Additional flying starting this month and more planned. That and the wish-washy level of commitment crew planning has demonstrated in the recent CRU’s leads me to believe that it will be a relatively small number if it happens at all. I hope that’s not wishful thinking…

Potential CA surpluses because of at least two FRMS routes that won’t be flown anytime soon (Delhi and Bangalore). Staffing was well underway at the closure of Russian airspace. Any FO surplus will not be proportional.

Yes! Then torment and anguish as they all learn/remember that the seat pan doesn’t tilt, good luck getting comfortable. No VSD, there’s no way to tell how high you are. No HEPA filters or humidifier, it’s like a dust storm at burning man on every flight. And good luck in the “Coffin Closet” bunk room, no way they’ll get a nap.
