Unfortunately, it probably doesn't matter any more.
The fact that they would delay a Vacancy Bid closing when they "supposedly" don't know if it will pass the MEC Vote should tell us all something.
Everything is being played to ensure a Passing Vote.

Oh Well
Motch

PS) Even if it did get out to the pilot group next Friday.. what is to guarantee the pilot group would vote YES? So why would anyone bid on the current Vacancy bid based on a potential TA? They should be bidding on this Vacancy based on our current (post dated) UPA. So anyone junior bidding on a TA has guaranteed a YES vote and wonder what will happen if they get that Left Seat and then the TA fails?!

You can't make this **** up.

I emailed my rep asking why they needed to update the UPA with all the new references when we haven’t even voted on it yet. Seems like a lot of work and it isn’t guaranteed to pass.

Good post. In my 15 years here, this is the most leverage we’ve ever had. I hope we don’t squander it.

Maybe they are using Dominion machines?

I don’t think those are the unfilled vacancies they’re targeting…

Unfilled captain vacancies is telling, but I think its simple. The pay is too low.

Pay is just part of the problem. I can’t blame people for not wanting to commute to our reserve rules at any rate.

Everyone looks at the reserve rules when it’s most likely the commuting rules that are scaring upgrades away. Delta gets to book the jumpseat a week ahead of time and Alaska pilots commuting to work get a priority ahead of all other nonrevs. We need these types of rules.

100%. FedEx books jump seat 21 days prior! Theoretically, at UAL, a senior pilot going to the beach for a week can bump a junior pilot trying to commute to/from work on the jump seat. This is wrong on many levels.

But aren’t these internal issues outside of the contract? It seems like with the right leadership and resolutions at ALPA, we could stop shooting ourselves in the foot as pilots and take care of each other more.

Contractually speaking, I hope we get PS commutes and I drive to work.
