If you keep talking about retirement increases, you’re just setting yourself up to be disappointed. United did not get any retirement increases in our TA and American did not get any retirement increases in their offer. It’s not going to happen.

It’s more than a waitress at IHOP. Hey, let’s work for tips. Either you’re management or one of the most… because you try to talk everything down. Embarrassing.

I’ve never seen anyone post so many false statements in such a short period of time as this Mytime person. AA has a TA? Our TA is suspended? Mytime just makes up whatever s/he feels like.

He’s worried he won’t have enough for retirement. A fire from the hip type Boomer. It makes sense. Don’t trust, just verify everything here.

Actually, before you dismiss that idea, do the math.
Take the average fare in the back of your plane. Take a 20% gratuity.. Multiply by the # of pax, X the number of legs you do in a year. Captain gers 60%, FO gets 40%.

You might be surprised.

For me, a narrow body CA, that's roughly $650,000.

A yes, the Boomer who had his pension and possibly ESOP stock taken from him. A Boomer that possibly took a MASSIVE paycut to save this airline so you Hogans could have a career here. Never mind the message, just shoot the messenger and vote him a pay cut to buy your job.

Insler gave this place so many gifts that keep on giving.

Or maybe I believe this job is worthy of a decent retirement. Way to many forget that 20yrs ago Airline pilots retired with a healthy pension and retirement savings and qualified for full SS. Today NO pension , some retirement savings and a SS penalty. I refuse to apologize for believing this job is worthy of a pension or something that resembles one. Those of you that don't are a disgrace to the profession. So keep on paying for everyone else's pension for the rest of your while you hope the market won't crash. I may be ranting but at least I'm a fighter with some conviction and not just a rollover yes man like so many . Go ahead and keep bashing away but at least I know what pilots deserve. It's the weak minded yes men that got us into this pathetic position that continually make excuses for the company.

Never said American had a TA. Sorry but yes our TA is as good as suspended up until the MEC says it's not. I have yet to hear that. Not going to waste my time defending myself to those that think this TA is a good deal.

You are 100% correct.. Weak minded yes men did negotiate this TA and the same types gave away our pension and continue to make excuses for the company. I think it should go without saying, but bears repeating, that we are not paid based on our flying skills. Our compensation is based on our REPLACEABILITY. Management and our union leaders do not want you to recognize the honest economic truth that we can regain everything that has been taken from us over the years because at this point in history we CAN’T be replaced. That’s where the idea of “Unity” comes in to play..we’ve already seen what a lack of unity brought us.
If we expect management to take us seriously we need to immediately start the procedures required by the RLA as soon as this TA is voted down …
step one is to request mediation…this should have been done on January 2nd 2019 the day after our amendable date.

The required RLA steps for those not familiar are:

-Section 6 negotiations
-Request mediation
-Agree to binding arbitration or declare an impasse
-Cooling off period
-Self help

There are people who retire on just their social security check. It’s probably not the most comfortable retirement but they’re able to survive I suppose.

So, ya, you “can retire” with virtually no money saved but why should we not go for the kind of retirement that reflects A) the amount of liability and responsibility we assume flying thousands upon thousands of passengers over the course of our careers, and B) what the market will bear?

And, in terms of retirement, both UPS and FedEx, which compete for the same pool of pilots as the major passenger airlines do, both have A-plans for retirement. That establishes a standard which can be pointed to as an entirely realistic contractual demand.

Finally, you mentioned that 16% is more than any investment banker “[you] know” receives. I don’t know that it’s typical for an investment banker to have a B-fund at all, but investment bankers famously receive enormous yearly bonuses that I would opt for over a 16% B-fund. Reportedly, their annual bonuses average between 50% and 150% on annual base salaries between $200K and $500K. Not bad at all.
