You have to make north of 600K to be in the 1%. We're not in the 1%. You could double most of our incomes and we still wouldn't be in the top 1% And the majority of workers in this country don't carry the same level of responsibility that pilots do. Not even close. Have more respect for your profession.
I have plenty of respect for my profession. But to say we're underpaid, have poor retirements, etc is being a little disingenuous. Plenty of other careers with as much, or more responsibly as what we have that make a lot less.
But this is APC, so trying to have a logical argument on here is like herding cats.
I'm voting no unless we get cinnamon rolls with our crew meals.

OK, let's say 5%'er, which starts at $200k. That is 95% better than the rest of the country, which is already the richest in the world.

Most ER docs save more lives in one day than 99% of pilots will in their whole career. I love my job and I don’t want to leave money on the table (because the company can absolutely afford it), but be careful with this notion of “deserve.” Take all that you can… And then be grateful for it

And chances are we'll both have to make the same choices over the next 20 years of our careers. But don't let that change your perspective on what we have now. Most of us are 1%'ers. Nothing wrong with that, but the majority of the country has a lot more things to worry about on a daily basis than we do.

I'll better you one on that. I would retire today if there was a pension deal in this TA. The only reason pilots stick around to 65 is because there is no pension. If those young junior pilots want to move up faster then push for a DB like plan. You clearly lack seeing the big picture. And BTW I'm as pro union as they get. I just want the rest of the pilot group to speak up and demand significant improvements. That does not make me anti union just the opposite.
Once you get a pension the new excuse will be that it is not enough and because of this they must stay. You will fight to raise it and once again they will stay. It’s an evolving argument and a pilot, for the most part, will always find a way to justify staying until the bitter end.
