It isn't. Inflation from 2017 until now is roughly 20%. For a future 4 year contract, another 20% would be fair, if not underestimated, at the current trajectory.

But to your point, Tesla has increased prices for model Y and model 3 by around 25% in the past year and yet they have record demand that they’re unable to meet.

I guess I have to ask you if you believe demand improves pricing traction? For electric cars, it appears the answer is yes. So, if UAL is building the best route network on the planet, will that help or hurt demand?

Management is setting the airline up to be a cash cow and pilots are afraid to claim an appropriate contract?? I don’t think so! Sure there will be a few that live in fear and thankful for any scrap that falls off the table. Fortunately those weak sisters are in the minority.

The VP got a $4,000,000 retention bonus. They spent dumb a$& money on a boom gimmick. They are throwing money everywhere but where is needed to attract all new hires. Not just the ones that live in a United hub.

Kirby wants the greatest airline in the history of aviation he needs to pay like the pilots are the best in the history of aviation.

And that is only BREAK-EVEN to inflation. It does NOT give us a pay RAISE! It DOES NOT improve our earnings. In 2026 you will be where your were in 2017 with respect to your purchasing power. Just nine years older and closer to retirement.

Enough with spending money on executive retention bonuses, then telling us you can't afford to give us a pay RAISE.

Enough with spending money on virtue-signaling Boom.

Enough with spending money on virtue-signaling flight schools.

Enough with spending money on virtue-signaling alternative fuels.

Enough with spending money on virtue-signaling net-zero.

How about running an efficient airline that pays its pilots, and let other companies who specialize in those areas work out the other issues.

This company squanders money on anything that is not the business of an airline, yet tells us they cannot afford to give us a real pay raise and improvement to our contract.

Sorry but AA hasn't led in anything to do with a contract in about 20 years.

Frankly truth be told the only pilot groups that have led are UPS and FEDEX. Every other group has capitulated and have sold their souls over fear and buying into managements BS. Going out on a limb and predicting this next contract will be no different. Can't wait for all the hand wringing with ALPA putting so called " subject matter experts" on zoom explaining why pilots are not worthy of a solid retirement plan. And unfortunately most pilots will buy the BS this time like they have for the last 20yrs. Trust me the pathetic talk of how poor United Airline is is coming. What they won't talk about is the 7 BILLION $ stock buyback, Boom jets, largest aircraft order in history, flying electric vehicle investment, new finance venture
, alternative veggie fuel investment etc etc . Only how we the pilots are way down the list of priorities and how there is no shortage so just be happy with the scraps falling off the table.

Call me what you want but you also know I'm right. Get ready for the sales job. It will sound something like this. ALPA has brought to the United pilot group an " industry leading contract" STOP. That will be a lie. Given the difficult economic environment with post Covid travel still below 2020 levels and high fuel prices your negotiating committe did the best they could do given Uniteds resources. In spite of all these difficult economic realities we believe this contract deserves your overwhelming support and membership ratification. Although we would have like
d to achieve more the money just wasn't there in these uncertain times.

Tell me I'm wrong
