Ill be surprised if a TA even gets to a pilot vote at this point. The negotiating committee is going to have to go back to the table after Piedmont and Envoy deals.
Its crazy how two regionals may possibly lift the tides of contract cycle at the majors. Things just got interesting.

I started laughing in public when I read the comment that Envoy & Piedmont pay rates would somehow affect United contract negotiations.
I’m sure the company would be thrilled to give us Envoy & Piedmont +1%. Also, those rates expire in Aug 2024, and they go back to first year $63/hr FO and $104/hr Capt.
The United AIP is still overall airline industry leading.

Pay rates although a large part of compensation is still just a part. The other part is retirement. Retirement is for life and rates are only good while working. Time will tell what 4 years of negotiations produced.

Pay rates are a small part of compensation. When I was at Horizon, we had the highest pay rates at the regionals. Yet I made less per month than a contemporary at SkyWest, ExpressJet, and even Compass. Work rules are more integral to compensation than a simple pay rate. Also, in time of strife for the airline, the first thing that a bankruptcy judge goes after is pay rates. IMHO…

I've heard that one of the PBGC conditions of the UAL pension termination was that UAL couldn't create a new Defined Benefit plan for a period of time (10 years?). I cant find any reference or proof of this. All I find is that the PBGC waived its right to have UAL restore the terminated pensions when UAL argued that they were unable to secure financing if the pension restoration was possible.
