Theoretical question: assuming we're profitable this quarter, a 5% pay increase is triggered IAW the LOA, correct? So, if a new contract specifies a 4% increase for the first year (totally hypothetical, I have zero inside knowledge) - does it stack with the 5% increase or overrides it?

Yes, UPS pension increase with their contract a couple of years ago. But I though you were saying both increased. FedEx pension has been the same for decades. I thought maybe you knew something I didn’t.
There is a way to turn 16 days of vacation into 90 days. There is a very specific way of doing it that happens four times a year.

it’s very possible. there’s an article from the union that explains how to do it.
Prob not possible at UPS but it is possible at FedEx.

Since when has the MEC not voted unanimously? My expectations this once in a career contract are low. Why ? Because ALPA doesn't have the guts to demand that this profession deserves to return to the old days of lifelong financial security and fight to get our pensions back. Pilots get caught up in pay rates , scope , age 65 etc and lose sight of the big picture and management just laughs at us as they should. This AIP will be just another slap.in the face nothingburger. No pre judgement here just living in reality.
Good luck we are all going to need it.

1. The Pandemic LOA
2. The UPA Extension
…to name just two.

Hamilton has been MEC chairman for 3+ months and all of a sudden he’s gone from being a loyal and dedicated ALPA volunteer for 20+ years (rep, officer, EVP, EA and now MEC chairman) to being a management wannabe? That’s some serious dark side conversion right there. Or maybe it’s just another imagined conspiracy theory.
