Default Traveling with Golf Clubs.

Tempted to stash my backup set at a hotel I will be staying at a lot. They already store clubs for other pilots. I’m a commuter and wanted to know from other about the easiest way(s) to bring their clubs with them.

Just check them as a non rev. No charge. I do it all the time.

Second that, I'm traveling with clubs this weekend. Never had an issue.

Are you referring to checking them when actually travelling as NRSA or creating an 'extra' NRSA listing to check them when working?

I went down this rabbit hole years ago working 2 day transcons to the west coast and wanting to play when you land at say, 0930. Also, the long JAX when we stay(stayed?) at TPC sawgrass. I'm tall so rental clubs don't work. I was told creating a NRSA listing for the sake of checking a bag was a security no no...or maybe the Working Together guidelines, it doesn't really matter in the end. It wasn't worth the hassle.

Since OP said he wants to stash them at a hotel he routinely stays at, I was talking about checking them while acting as a NRSA, so not working. I’ve golfed on layovers, but only rented clubs.

Don’t make this difficult… send the clubs straight to the layover hotel. If your plan was to not stash them semi-permanently at the layover hotel then do the other pilot(s) a solid and don’t be the jerk waiting in baggage claim for clubs when you all should be on the way to the hotel. Rent.

Thanks for the replies. To be more clear, I feel confident getting the clubs to my base as a commuter. Has anyone brought clubs on a flight they are working? I want to bring them with me the first time and leave them there. I know the other pilot I’m paired with and they won’t have a problem waiting an extra 10-15m at the airport on our 33 hour overnight.

Shipsticks wants $160 each way. I don’t consider myself cheap, but that’s just enough to make me consider just bringing them myself.

I’ve shipped clubs on Fedex with the discount for under $40.

I checked with FedEx. With our discount, the cheapest option was $220

I don’t think whoever you talked to was applying the discount correctly, that sounds like the full price. The discounted rate off that should be $45. If that’s the discounted rate he is saying the regular rate would be $880?
