How to help someone get hired?
Old dude here asking for help from someone closer to the new hire process. Turns out a friend of the family has a son that is a pilot for Republic. I'd like to help if I can, but honestly I'm completely out of touch with the current process and don't know what I can do to best help out. Do I simply put in a letter of recommendation? Do I walk his application in personally to my CPO? I really have no idea and am curious to learn.
So . . . any recent new hires with advice on how to help this young man get his application looked at?
Thanks.

Everything is done through Airline Apps now so I don't think walking in an application would have any impact. Have him send you the link from Airline Apps to write him a LOR. Don't know if it helps or not but I have done a few and some of them actually got hired.

A meet and greet is absolutely the way to go. The mins are dynamic, but right now: at least 2500 TT (3000 preferred), some leadership experience (inside or outside the cockpit), 4 year degree completed (or expected soon).
Every base is different. In My base the FMs administer and screen applicants. This who sit down with the CP have about a 75% recommendation rate, which is basically like a guaranteed interview. Getting the meet and great varies in difficulty, but no skeletons and the above criteria should be good.

Send an email to the CP office for a meet and greet. My guy was handshake to CJO in 2 weeks. Others may vary but CP is the way to go. Also write a LOR on his airline app account. Have him send you the link. Pretty easy. I’ve heard the magic number is 5 LOR preferably from UAL pilots. Puzzle palace is an Enigma to begin with so who knows.
