I’ll take a cab if one is there. Seems like they usually are not present. I’m not waiting longer just to find a cab. Whoever gets the job done the quickest, gets the fare.

I just flew with an individual two weeks ago who not only did not tip our transportation but actually made the same excuse when unable to avoid the awkward annoyance of the driver pulling their bags last. Awesome person to fly with though so I have no explanation to why.

But yeah, Commutair crews not tipping van drivers sounds about right 😉.

Also, quit tipping a buck, what is this, 1977? Your employer has been generous with you, be generous with those who help you do you job. That guy driving you from Newark to Manhattan owns the Mercedes you're in, and just gave you almost an hour of his time and expertise. And yet you tip the waitress who brought you your Nachos more than you do him. Duuuuuude.

Lastly, quit thinking our VP of labor relations is sitting in a corner of the NOC, monitoring your arrival and engineering a no-show in order to chip away at your morale.

Post-pandemic staffing challenges aggravated by cheap-ass pilots, but with easy contractual relief and prompt reimbursement.
I can see an argument for nuance when it comes to tipping. The on-call hotel van driver that makes $12/hour, Uber, taxis, etc. Sure throw that guy/gal a five spot. But I can also understand why folks don’t tip the limousines and scheduled premium service. Those contracts can be up to $300 each way for a thirty minute ride. I think the tip has already been paid by the company in those cases.

I’ve heard this as well.

But begs the question, does the driver ACTUALLY see said tip?

I've had conversations with a few of those drivers. Most are on food stamps.
Even with tips, I'm sure they're making less than a first year FO.

I've flown with a few new FOs that hadn't tipped. I try to gently mentor them when they don't tip.

The winky face is your cute way of saying that you just KNOW that I was a Commutair pilot. Funny thing, it’s not actually true. Many of your assumptions are incorrect. I didn’t fly for Commutair, but I did fly for a regional. For waaaaay too many years. Sort of a “lost decade” kinda situation. I’m also not an AVIATE recruiter. I don’t actually GAF about that program. I am quite familiar with it, as I’ve seen it evolve from the CPP, into what it is now. I gave somebody advice that you disagreed with….and you decided to make it personal. The person who asked that question made it clear that UAL was her absolute first choice. That kinda skewed my answer to her. Had nothing to do with AVIATE, and I don’t care either way. Your other assumption is that when you “met me in the parking lot”…..you were gonna beat my a$$. I’m not in the habit of getting into physical altercations with coworkers…..but if that were to happen, the outcome may not be as assured as you think. You keep assuming….and keep being wrong. Good day, sir.

Woah… that’s a hell of a reaction to being teased you little softy. Be honest, were you crying when you typed this out?

What’s funny though is you went crying to mommy (mods) when I responded to your PM. Yup I told you directly I’d beat your ass, but trust me you’re not the first. Over a decade of playing hockey, and I’ve been in more than few fights. I miss that sport, kept clowns like you honest. You run your mouth off, you cheap shot a guy, you’re paying the price for that decision by dropping the gloves and taking a few.

This, along with the “one ping only.” The only thing that causes corrective action is when it costs the company money by way of the contract.

It didn’t used to be so bad, in fact once in a blue moon and even then there was always some outlying understandable reason (snow storm, traffic accident, etc).

Well from what I’ve just read from the two of you, I would hedge my bets on Karill. I’m not saying he’d beat you up, I’m thinking he wouldn’t have the chance. You would say something unpleasant across the bar, he would respond with let’s settle this outside. You walk out then run away and call the cops.

The concerning part of what I’ve read is you’re the type of crew member who has a disagreement with a coworker and instead of working it out internally, you go running to management.
