An absolute slap in the face for the 40-50 year old regional CAs who never get looked at. Disrespectful and disgusting, recruiting should be totally ashamed of themselves.
Nobody has the "right" to be here...

The kid is a highly motivated self starter and your facts are off. Most of the 40-50 yr old regional captains have done less in their life than this kid. By age 28 he has developed and produced dozens of career promoting films, written a book, founded a company and followed a traditional path towards the flight deck at a major (college/flight school>charter>regional>major). Having met him in person - his "on camera" personality genuinely is what you see in person. United has hired hundreds of pilots and they have all met the "minimum requirements" but that doesn't make them substandard to a career regional pilot. Swayne's record really stands out and the younger generation really is into the youtube scene - he has almost 300K subscribers and gets 30+ MILLION views. Glad he is working with United HR and not our competition.

He seemed sharp and on point. Probably not a video I would make but it was not disrespectful or disgusting by any means.

Mr. Lopez, joined March of 2022. Question, for you sir, what the f&*( are you worried about. The kid has probably has done more with his life in 5 years than most pilots do in a life time and he is just getting started. Cut the young man some slack. Geez.

The 40-50 year old regional CAs don't get looked at because they generally suck. And they statistically have the worst training outcomes.

Swayne is a good dude, some would even call him a bro. He has done much more for his career than most of the 40-50 year old regional CAs.

Just a guess, but I figure that’s the exception, not the rule at the moment for AA. I hope I’m wrong. I’ll have a wet ATP sooner than later coming up in the future.

I look forward to the day pilots are hired based on their ability to communicate with their coworkers, their ability to make good decisions, and their records regarding safety and aptitude for being a pilot.

Basing hiring on what squadron a pilot is from, their color, gender, who their Daddy was, what aviation university they graduated from or how popular they are on the Googles seems a little, well…

One of the days the airlines will hire with safety and efficiency in mind. Right after hell freezes over and the sun turns to dust.

Dude has a creep vibe. I’d think twice about hiring him as a babysitter. He does sum up what United is looking for perfectly. HR poster child. The 50 year old regional captains need to add drag queen story reader to the resume, that’ll get United calling.

I fly with lots of new hires who have ZERO 121 time!

Seriously, think about that for a second….
