Why people need to be validated so much is so confusing to me. The best part of the job is you get to be totally anonymous. My goal is to be the most forgettable person to ever fly for a legacy airline for 35 years. Show up ~10 days a month. Clock in. Fly around. Have a good time. Clock out. Forget about work entirely for a week. This kind of deal does not exist in upper middle classdom for worker bees anywhere else in the world. Why you have to perform and try to make yourself a star while you do it is just crazy to me.
The flying public are gonna start seeing all these jokers goofing off and making whacky videos for lols and start to wonder why we get paid what we do.

We have our fair share at Delta. Swayne’s videos are good. I’ve told people who are curious about the ins and outs of flying for a legacy to check out his videos. High production value and pretty interesting. He’s honestly one of the few outliers in an ocean of narcissists.

But yeah if guys could stop making the cringe videos and taking "sexy" shirtless pics with the @pilot_name or @aviator_name handles, that'd be super.
Oh yeah, the day in the life videos showing the Cancun layover you got on reserve, plugging some glorified Hungry Man dinners, and gym shots are super duper cringe too, stop it.

The cynicism here is a bit unbearable. I couldn't care less what people post about on social media. If I don't want to watch it, I stay off social media or delete it altogether. It's the same as the news. I cut it out of my life years ago, have no idea what happens in the world, and love my blissful ignorance.
As someone who has had very close relatives who suffer from diagnosable NPD, I wish people would stop throwing that word around. No one chooses mental illness, so to throw a diagnosis at people as an insult says more about the person doing it than who they are condemning.
I intended to click this thread so that it was no longer bold on the main page for me, but I ended up reading the last page of posts.
