Yes and now United has to choose if they want to incentivize those pilots to do something besides leave for the competition because right now it's the only rational choice left to them.

Exactly all the pilots that got a no, it makes no sense for them to stay at a UAX regional

I did the interview in October, the HR person didn’t even realize it was an aviate interview. She asked me if I could be available for three months if accepted. I let her know I can’t make that commitment right now as I’m about a year from being complete with the hours requirement. As for the technical side I’m not sure if was the same as an OTS interview or not. No flows or limits questions. Mostly briefing and CRM stuff.

Aviate is not a flow, it’s a pathway to a Legacy Airline job. When the Aviate candidates are going through their program, they are constantly being evaluated for their professionalism, reliability, and skills. They still have to go through one of our Regional Airline partners also. This is a long interview!!!

I am against flows!!! Anyone can be on their best behavior for a few hours. I was witness to a flow when I was at Compass. There were pilots that were abusing their sick time, busting training events, etc. They had the flow to Delta and knew all they had to do was remain employed with Compass to cash in on the flow.

easy fix. Have a final “gate” where the performance is reviewed.

The problem, as you allude to, is how the company defines “abusing sick time”. The reality is guys will show up sick out of FEAR of losing the golden ticket. That’s reality. And frankly, that’s what Mother U wants them to think. Get that mentality in their head early, so when they get to mainline, the behavior is normalized. Heck, they use the same bs for internal interviews. Call is sick a few times? You’re now deemed “unreliable” even though it’s within the UPA and HR reliability metrics.

Add to this things like fear of adding fuel, turning down a plane, or even delayed boarding do to a plane thats way to hit in the summer and you start to see the picture.

It’s not a flow yet. But tomorrow I have a strong feeling it will be. I’m not for flows either.

Too hot to board? well you better board anyway otherwise your flow gets yanked. But you better hope nobody gets heatstroke either because that will cause your flow to get yanked.
