I'm honestly surprised that the order didn't include the A220.
I thought that if you wanted to replace CRJs, the smaller and much more efficient A220 would be a great choice. Plus, I assumed they could be had a good price.
Boeing must have given a good deal on the MAX.
Also, the MAX10 and the A321 have identical seating capacity

this will bring us in par with the competition. The investor call this morning basically shows that we are closing the gap to the competition and will still be lacking in small markets. There is no plan to ever have the same coverage as DL in small markets.

While the A321 NEOs make sense for their seat ranges, I wonder if Airbus had given the green light on the potential A220-500 (size of a 737-800 or standard A320) whether that would make a difference because the full A220 family (100, 300 and potential 500) covers a lot of seat ranges and is pretty compelling as a package deal. Who knows, maybe they are already talking about it for the next big order down the road….

Says 50 seaters account for one-third of all the United / United Express departures. This will drop to less than 10%.
If I were working for a United 50 seat exclusively fleet, I would be heading for the exits. But that is just me.

Wouldn’t that be true for most regional pilots regardless of what they are flying?
