UAL Vaccination

Saving the world? No. But offering what protection I can to the elderly & immuno-compromised people in my life was a no-brainer.

Someone I fly with doesn't want to get vaccinated? Fine, nothing I or anyone else says is likely to change their mind. Best case scenario: nothing happens. Worst case: I get a seniority bump.

This is going to be a mess legally. Some folks cannot take the shot due to medical reasons and will need to be accommodated without disclosing their medical records. ALPA is like having a public defender you’ll be convicted 97% of the time. This is a major development to the workforce going forward if they are able to find legal footing to keep it in place going forward.

Has UA mandated that any current employee get the vaccine yet? …or are we still just taking about the possibility due to DAL new hires needing it?

Yes, vaccines block most transmission of COVID-19
I mean, it literally is, but I have no delusions of the anti-vax crowd ever accepting that.

Thats the problem, between the hysteria and the politicization and the breathless clown show that is the press, it’s impossible to get a straight story.
What is “National Geographic” going to have to say about the gain of function bat virus research that was being conducted in Wuhan? Or are they to compromised by the CCP to accurately report on it too?

Funny how the various health organizations just a month ago were screaming that it did not prevent transmission and to keep wearing those masks!

I think delta is the only one but Kirby was quoted in an article saying that United would follow the leadership of other airlines if they go in the direction of vaccinating employees.

They're dealing with a worldwide event in real time, and a virus that is a moving target (various strains), with various age groups that can and can't be vaccinated yet, and with a media and political knee-jerk reaction that means any declaration that might later need to be walked back would cause an even bigger uproar than the decision point where the CDC states masks are no longer required for the vaccinated.

Anything new on that?
