Default WTH? Why is Vacation in my Schedule?

Just took a look at my May schedule award and there is two weeks of vacation in there. Never bid any vacation at all since I can’t plan anything that far out, and was going to do the monthly vacation bid thing when the time was right.

What’s going on? Who do I call to get that taken out?

if you don’t bid you get assigned 2 weeks
you can’t have all 5 weeks vacation all floating and available for monthly bid

depending what your seniority is, this is the minimum number of days you must be awarded vacation during annual bidding. (If you have enough and didn’t use vacation drops the year prior)

Did it show up in PBS when you were bidding?

It doesn’t this close to May. The may schedule is out, no slide.

Dang. First time I ever forgot to bid. Missed it by an hour. Waste of two weeks vacation and lesson learned.

If you are a line holder, you can move vacation around and put them on “days off” and then work a regular month if you want to max out your pay

Here some other considerations to put into your lessons learned bag of tricks, in case you forgot. A month with two weeks of vacation, in which you want to "max out" your flying, you'll have to fly at least 82.5 hrs before you beat MPG for the month, while still having to manage where you'll place your required 6 (4) days-off for the month. Of which vacation days don't count. Definitely break up those vacation weeks and move around the month. Just can't move them in the past. Good luck!

Also, when annual vacation bidding got going, the first thing you have to bid is how many weeks of vacation you intend to bid and how many weeks you want to carry forward into monthly bidding. Looks like you skipped that step as well. Also, monthly vacation bidding can be very hard to be successful at.
