767-400 777 Pratt. Rumors
#11
I have heard pretty much what the general consensus on here is that the 767-400 will be coming back sooner than later. I was also told that the landing gear mods aren’t as in depth as previously thought on some of them. Again just speculation. Since I’m a captain on this fleet I’m wondering if the 777 guys are going to come back over in droves? I suppose it depends on whether the company is going to hold on to them or scrap them. Any intel on this? Thanks guys! And girls....good stuff so far.

ORD got a 400 trip to HKG (O3A2Z on the 20th) but it was FBO’ed and then the pairing showed as Z3A0D (Z = Tech Ops) on the 21st which subsequently canceled. So depending on what the reason for the cancellation was, another one is going to likely be put into open time when the plane or HAECO is ready and another line crew will get a pay day to stay home. If it hits EWR open time, fuggedaboutit!

The below message was posted on the other forum a couple of hours ago. Assuming it wasn’t a joke, the first hard evidence I’ve seen of an impending RTS of the -400s.
This is to inform you that your CQ base month as been moved up to May 2021. This is due to the return of the 764 into service and preventing you from having to go to the FTC twice within a few months time. Bidding closes on 3/25 1000am CT.

The trips still need to go into open time, awarded to line pilots and then they are FBO’ed. The good fellas in EWR got a 763 HKG trip the other week that was bought off them shorty after being awarded, fuggedaboutit.

I think you are on to something there. Flown by Tech Ops. That is interesting. I saw those pairings. I also know they were ultimately flown by pilots other than line pilots. I would love to see those pairings in my base. I'd pick them up just to be FBO'd. Talk about a pay day.
Also when the dung was hitting the fan around this time last year, any 767’s left in HKG were FBO’d. So it appears nothing has changed since then with Tech Ops doing the HKG lift, but line pukes are still going out to Guam for the hand off.

I think only the "test pilots/retired pilots" have been moving those airframes. Thus the Hong Kong (ewr 400) mafia group has been shut down.
You wanted rumors.....there u have it.
how does the “mafia” get these trips? It was my understanding that once we went over to the real-time trip trading system it eliminated them being able to get into shares a few seconds earlier than us?
Do they use another program? If so why isn’t ALPA all over this? Why aren’t they fired?!

Do they have an insider person in scheduling or in Tech Ops, or TOMC?
Are they able to see the MX flow and anticipated RTS by Tech Ops?
Do they have access to the subcontractors' work-flow and assignment schedule or data base?
Is there a piece of software/hardware that they have that interfaces with CCS and/or uses a back door?
I had heard there was a 20k buy-in to get into the mafia. Maybe a crazy rumor, but hey, it's the rumor thread.....
We need to get someone in on the inside, so we can all get smart. I hear one of those HKG trips paid 90 hours. They got it twice....45 x 2. Can't we all be so lucky.... I perceive they get between a 30 minute to 10 minute advantage on getting knowledge of the trips.

I'm sitting here in SFO looking at 767-400, #052 at gate G4. No idea where it's going. Possibly a MX ferry flt.
Years ago ALPA and the company reached an agreement regarding these MX ferry flts. ALPA still maintains that line pilots should be flying these. They are current and qualified. However, the company and TK wants the flt test guys to do them, not sure why.
The contract is pretty specific in this instance. Line pilots should be flying them. So, the company agreed to build the trips, put them in open flying for pickup. Then anyone awarded, would be FBO'd and the test guys would do the trip. The company, as in many crew desk areas, is abusing the system. They put it in open flying for a few minutes, and build the trips at the last second. It also has the effect of blocking the EWR 767 mafia from abusing the pickup system.
