I was on the 767 briefly, at another company, about a decade ago but don't remember STBY NAV. Can you remind me what that does?
But hey, finding the coastline at the end of a crossing is easy. The trick is knowing if you need to turn left or right when you get to it!

No, just the two engine generators and the APU generator. The APUs have to be under a special program to ensure cold start reliability or you have to run the APU from takeoff through ETOPS exit.

I’m fairly certain THAT is why he’s been #canceled, not the gun on his hip.

Many of us run the APU on the guppy over the water, even if it’s etops certified. Not worth the risk if you need it during an emergency to have to white knuckle it hoping and praying the thing starts. For as little fuel as it takes to leave it running, it’s cheap insurance. Our safety margins on this thing over the water are slim enough as it is. This airplane was never designed for this type of flying, so taking away my emergency generator with the hopes that it starts when I need it?.....no thanks.

Even that’s not a real guarantee. Continental had a 757 with the APU running, due to an MEL’d main generator, and when the other generator failed inflight the APU flamed out when the load shifted. The HDG didn’t come online and it turned into a giant ******* show in a hurry. The Captain had his hands full to say the least.
