Then don't get it. There are exemptions for legit medical reasons.

But better bid domestic, other countries may not honor US niceties like optional vaccines.

I’ll be getting the vaccine even if it’s not required. But you and I both no it will. Most pilots are smart and see through BS. We weigh risks every day. And make decisions based on pertinent information and not from hashtags.

You know we have ALPA Aeromedical? I haven’t read anything by them saying we shouldn’t get it. Nothing from Oklahoma City advising against it either.

Good luck with your “StopBeingWhimps” campaign. TIC.

I haven’t really checked this thread in a while but love that getting a vaccine is being a whimp.

“oh Jerry you are such a baby! You got measles!”

I don’t think Kirby has to make anything mandatory. If any part of your trip touches a country where you need a vaccine, then whole trip is dropped with no pay. Everyone will be lining up for the shot at that point unless you can bid away from those countries. Or maybe narrow body will be senior to wide body soon.

I AM generally anti vax but I’d take the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Not J&J though. Do some research. The mRNA vaccines are really safe.

It may be worse than you realize. Other countries? How about each state? Each state's rules are different. There is a high probability that a state will eventually require a vaccine to enter. Hawaii is the example right now. Not just each state, but regions in a state.

The island of Lihue? They have different rules than the other islands--more restrictive. It's going to be a sticky wicket. As stated before, the law is already established. Companies can require the vaccine. You do have the right to determine what goes into your body, if it becomes a requirement, your choice has become take the vaccine, or choose a different line of work. No one is forcing you to work for an airline. Those are your constitutional choices.

Now, the next obstacle for Kirby to overcome will be the resistance of the unions. He can talk all he wants about requiring it, but if he doesn't have the cooperation of ALPA or the other unions, it's a non-starter.

The Company requires that EVERY pilot here at United gets an FAA medical every six months. Without having a current medical with First Class privileges you will have trips removed without pay. The same thing will happen with the vaccine. If you don’t have the vaccine, the Company could just remove you from flying status without pay. It’s really that simple!!! I haven’t read anything in our contract that would prevent them from doing that. They can make it very academic.
