Voluntary Furlough Bid
Granted it is early in the cycle but I wonder why so few are bidding for a voluntary furlough? With only 20 or so folks on the voluntary furlough list I'm wondering if the 150 that took the voluntary in 2008 thinking they'd be out for a year at most, and then ended up out for 3-4 years, are seeing the greater risk this time?

Lethargic disconnected legislators with an unpredictable executive branch. Good luck with that.

Cares2, sure. Wouldn’t hold out any hope for company-paid leaves when the major goal is just to reduce any amount of unnecessary cash burn. That said, I’d take one as well.

Also, say you take a voluntary furlough thinking you will definitely be furloughed. Then, by some unforeseen circumstances, you end up being above the involuntary furlough cut, you just mitigated some junior pilot’s involuntary furlough. You stay furloughed until the first pilot junior to you is recalled.
I am definitely being furloughed. I would have taken a voluntary furlough early if I could get hired somewhere else. Unfortunately, I have not been lucky to find other employment yet.
I got this information from the CPO furlough Information sessions this week.

The way I understood it from the information session, at this time, any pilot can ask for a voluntary furlough, It would probably be approved because that is part of the current mitigation efforts under way.
