The “play stupid games” part is where we decided to pursue this for a career.

If we put Line Caps instead, then yes all of that is true as the company hates those.

MPG is only the floor that is used for times like protecting pay for reserves when those pilots don't fly guarantee.
The company bean counters hate seeing pilots paid not to fly and want to find ways to reduce those costs.

The company can and will find a way to raise the upper limits when and where they need it.

Make no mistake, MPG will be like RJ's.
The company will gladly take them the pilots are tricked into giving them away, but do so with the intent to keep the lower MPG for the long term.

I love the line cap idea!!! That prevents pilots from trying to be wanna be scabs at the expense of our furloughed brethren.

Let's not cheapen the true definition of a scab. Try to think of those you describe as ladies of the evening. Heck, even address them as my lady.

You are actively undermining the negotiation. Imagine you're car shopping and your wife/partner says "I need this car" with the salesman in the car for a test drive... there are a handful of people that actually need your opinion right now.

I don’t believe that I am cheapening the definition of the non-believers. I am widening it because let’s face it, the days of crossing a picket line are gone for the foreseeable future. None of the large carriers will be allowed to strike.

But a scab mentality does exist!!! Anyone profiting from times of furlough might as well be put on a list and damned for eternity!!!

Or if they pick up a premium trip at 50%, instead of waiting for 100%! Burn the witch!

Or if they apply to go to TK! Banish them!!

(How about if we address these... and other... issues separately, and keep the scab issue separate?)

Exactly. I fail to understand how a simple word that means one thing, and one thing only, gets so twisted. Sometimes I think that people just like to call anything that they disagree with as scab like. Trading your non-commutable trip for a commutable one...scab mentality, dropping a terrible trip and later picking up a premium trip....scab mentality. It goes on and on. It’s like a scripted play. Management says that we will have to furlough, and right on cue people start the scab mentality narrative.

None of what you mentioned is “scab mentality”!!! All of that is totally fine. But profiting because we’re short staffed while our brothers and sisters have not had a chance for recall is selfish and unethical!!! Scabs are selfish and unethical!!! That is what I mean.

Scab mentality is the willingness to cross a picket line and profit while the pilot group is on strike for the betterment of the profession. I don't think our MC is currently in pursuit of the betterment of our profession.

If pilot concessions are not imposed, then one should not benefit when pilots are on furlough. Conversely...

I know what you meant. Just call people selfish and unethical. A scab may possess the same qualities, but only crossing a line makes one a scab. Also, my comment was meant to be more in general and not aimed at you directly. No offense intended.
