though I agree with why you may be sensitive to the OPs question you also need to realize that he/she is still going to be here flying jets. Their career is not on hold like ours maybe in the near future. They have every right to ask about QOL. You think the OP wants to be downgraded? You think the OP wants a pay cut? The OPs reality is just as ****ty as ours I gurantee they feel your pain.

Thoughts about long term sick pay would come to my mind as a point when debating CA vs FO seats.

YGBSM, how is this even a question? I've never met a guppy pilot who would be on it if it wasn't for the schedule and flying.
Listen man I’m sorry that you find yourself on the chopping block. Been there, done that so I know how you feel. Part of the reason that within minutes of the vote for the 1% furlough assessment opening that I voted in the affirmative. I think you’ll find that the results for that vote will speak volumes about your comrades. Having said that my original post solicited recommendations from pilots that have experience on the bus and guppy in the DCA base as it pertains to the quality of flying and having to cover 3 airports living in the city that I currently reside. I would throw out a few more comments but I understand we are all under a lot of stress and so we probably all ought to cut each other a little slack during these difficult times. For what it’s worth I recommend doing what you can to get your financial affairs in order as best you can and take a step away from the forums for a while. Focus on the things you can control and don’t let the small stuff add to your already stressful situation.

By the way not sure it was you but the assumption that I am a CA being downgraded is incorrect not that it really all that relevant to the discussion in my view. Displaced from wide body FO to narrow body FO and haven’t flown either the bus or the guppy in my current domicile hence the reason for my post soliciting info.

Take care!

joke right? Nothing inappropriate or insensitive about the OPs question... he/she has every right to try and make an informed choice based on others personal experiences. It sucks serious a$$ to be possibly furloughed... I get it... but don’t try and make the OP or anyone else feel responsible for the current situation. This sucks for all of us... some definitely more than others.

From what I can infer, flying is better on the 737 but the bus is the more pilot friendly, up to date way more comfortable airplane. The deciding factor for me will likely be the likelihood of being able to primarily fly out of Dulles so I am soliciting input from you folks who have been there, done that. I realize so many things have changed with flying but assuming things return to somewhat normal at some point, what say you? I will prob be mid level seniority (maybe worse depending on the number of furloughs - hopefully none). If it was just an airplane related decision I’d prob give the bus a whirl esp since we aren’t seat locked since I’ve spent time on the 737 and pretty much hated the airplane. But there are other factors here and not having to drive to DCA and BWI during early morning traffic is certainly a consideration. TIA!
Back to original question...

I’m bidding 320 out of DCA in July (coming from 777 and one of first to retrain from 2007D)... the bid package has a lot of BWI and DCA flying... more than I thought. I hope this isn’t long term outlook for 320 DCA flying... I’m in similar boat on drive but closer to IAD thankfully than Winchester!

What a load of right-wing crap. Nice mindless leap into banal political dross.

And, I think it's "heart on their sleeve".

I wasn’t trying to say it was insensitive. I was comparing his post to a high school girl’s need to ask everyone on their social media “what should I do?”

It wasn’t a joke, but I was also being a Richard. The stress of the current situation was affecting my judgment. We all have problems, and it’s all relative. I hope the OP makes the best decision for his family and his QOL.
