Makes you wonder if they will still be bringing in WB pilots from bases that are closing for landings class. Should a LAX 787 pilot needing a landings class pilot bid a 73 hour reserve line and hope to go non-qual, or bid a 50 hour SRL and not worry about commuting to reserve?

As a 777FO (former) Lineholder I took the 50 hour SRL in April. I can't hold a line now so I'm on Reserve until I get Displaced to 73//320FO. My Landings expired and they dropped my RSV days in May with pay for the next 3 weeks and said they will advise me WHEN they have a landings class for me.
I don't plan on taking anymore Reduced Lines.
Looking at the Reserve Usage and current Open Time in Base tells me I won't get used nearly at all. So I plan to max out the hours and see what Oct 1 brings.
And I commute to Reserve.

I'm dead in the water right now. First time in 12yrs I'm non qual'd!
(And here's the typical Motch United Funny Story! After getting cleared to return to work after my CoVid19 'trip'.. I had my LOE scheduled for 0400 on Sunday. SO.. of course I fly into Denver on Sat afternoon and get to the hotel and checked in at 1830.
All of sudden my phone goes off with a voice mail-
FO Motch, this is Jim from the Futures Desk. If you haven't left home, don't go to Denver. Your training has been canceled!..
I **** YOU NOT
So.. change my flight back, go to bed and at 630am I'm looking at my phone to see a msg from my PI. from 0412-
"Motch.. um, where are you? This is MH and I'm at the sim..."
YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS **** UP
So.. now I'm dead in the water when they would have had me as a reserve next month AND could have used me as I'm 22 miles from the airport. Instead, I'll sit at home and)
To answer your question, I'm told to bid what I can hold (Reserve) and I will be paid that MPG.
IDIOTS
oh, and the CCS msg about training being canceled came out at 2132CT.. on Saturday night.

I went lost qual today for the first time as a commercial pilot. Haven’t heard a word about landings class so I wasn’t sure how to bid next month, being concerned about the lower mpg for a lineholder. This just came out today in an MEC Update and seemed to help clarify;
9. What happens in PBS if a pilot is Non-Qualified (NQ)?
a. There are no restrictions to bidding in PBS if NQ. The Company has the option to preload NQ days on your schedule to prevent trip/reserve award on NQ days, but they have stated in the current environment they do not intend to do so.
10. What is my pay if I go NQ because the Company canceled Landings Requal (LDRQ) or CQ?
a. Awarded line value from PBS is still guaranteed. The Company will be required to drops trips or Reserve with pay while you are NQ. With the current low line values, some may find Reserve MPG of 73 hours to be greater than awarded line values and should bid accordingly for the option that best meets their needs. Pilots will be pay protected at the greater of MPG or PTC.”

Since going NQ in mid/late April, scheduling has continued to keep me on "LSR" (Long Call) without recoding my Master Schedule with LQP (Lost Qual Pay) while awaiting a Landings Sim. They've even called me on a string of reserve days this month (May), and released me for that day's LSR only to place me on Short Call for the following day. I even asked the scheduler on that same phone call if they are showing me as Current/Qual? He informed me that they cannot see if a Pilot is "Landings NQ" until such time they attempt to put a trip over that Pilot's reserve days.....ONLY at that time will they know about his/her's NQ Landing status. Just another stellar "I.T." short fall on display.
To the point above, the Company has not "preloaded" anything regarding NQ/LQP days over any of my days in May, nor have they done the same for the current June PBS load. I've heard of other Pilot's who are in the same boat as myself. I can only think that with the brief May 2nd CCS message (Homepage - left side) where the Company stated that for May/June, they've cx'ed over 2000 Sim events due to the "wait n see" regarding current Displacement Bid's result.

As a WB/FO on Left Coast Base, I went NQ the 3rd week of April for Landings. With the slash of 90% Int'l lift, and being back on reserve for the first time in 16 years, I had to brush-up on the rules in advising "Landings" about being NQ. Unlike a line holder having to advise the Landings Desk 21 days prior to expiration, a reserve pilot is NOT obligated to advise the Landings Desk. They/Landings will just schedule you for a Landings Requal Sim on a reserve day within your reserve month.

If I can't get SRL for June (doubt it) I'll contact them.
