Where do displaced and likely-to-be-furloughed 756 FO fit into the retraining flow? Can the company hold them back from a 737/320 training cycle if they are planning to send them to the street?

I’ve heard the answer is yes because even though junior pilots train first, if you have a furlough notice you are bypassed. The company would obviously prefer to train those they won’t furlough first.

Many of these existing NB FOs have already received notice that their PC has been cancelled. And sadly, this is just the first round of displacements. You can bet there will be follow on's to trim the overages. So, yes, there is a lack of understanding in the numbers, but to not see a large furlough coming is to have your head in the sand. I'm breathing fine, it's just that some of us have seen this play before. The ending sucks.
I fully expect a furlough but to take an inconsequential number from a displacement and interpolate x number of furloughs from it is ignorant of the process. You had meatballs prognosticating that we are furloughing back to 6801 seniority because that was the NB CA cutoff in the very first displacement... I understand the numbers being thrown around aren't easy to comprehend but for every 1 person that understands the numbers there are 5 taking one random number and running with it. This is just the first displacement and there is a lot of gamesmanship from both sides before this is over.

Anyway, I honestly wish all of you the best of luck. This is going to suck for a lot of people but it will be over before you know it and then you guys are going to have record-setting careers because of all the retirements AND the fact that global air travel isn’t just some fad. It’s a mega-trend that’s going to resume its explosive growth after we get past this current sh!t.

I’ll be watching from the sidelines in a few years busy trying to keep people off my lawn.
good post all the best to you as well.

cheers

Section 7-I. If you get a furlough notice, they don’t have to train you. They will only be sending those who will survive the first round of furloughs to school. The good news is that you’re pay protected on your displaced equipment until your furlough date. I was sure hoping that I wouldn’t have to read this section of the contract again, but here we are.

agreed......after today’s snapshot I think the company has created a bigger mess than they anticipated by cutting so deeply.....DCA 787 looks like it’ll be the largest category at the company.....

If you are getting displaced from NB CA and cannot hold WB FO you might want to consider bidding the other NB. If all such NB CA did that it would have a very, very interesting effect on TK operations.

Airbus Captain to guppy FO? Ooh that’s a doubly whammy!
