Furlough estimate

Unlike at Continental, UAL doesn't do CA checks outs in the right seat unless you are a LCA. LCA's are qualified in both seats. But, if you are a B756 CA and you are displaced or downbid to 777FO you will get an entire full course of training. I don't know what the course looks like if you are a B756 CA and go to B756 FO (nor do I want to know what that looks like). But, no one in their right mind would do that anyway...I reckon it don't matter cuz if they park the whole fleet none of the B756 pilots are qualified on anything else, so they'll all get full courses in something.
In my case, I haven't flown a 777 from the right seat in 10 years, nor the guppy in 20 years. So that will be a full course in both cases. I don't even speak french, so I'll likely need two courses on the airbus.
I think the point is: if the entire fleet gets killed, you're looking at 1200 training cycles just for those people. A small few of those may get furloughed.but, they will be bumping allot of 777 wide body FO's, B737 CA's and Airbus CA's; not to mention all of the other bumps due to FO's moving to different airframes. Then, we gotta figure the entire 'domicile' thing out. if people take moves to their new domiciles that will get really expensive real fast.

this means has been along time since the majority of 756 pilots have been on a NB. Per AQP 60 months is the cut off for a full course. How many WB FOs and CAs have been off the NB for longer than 60 months? My bet is greater than 90 percent. That’s a lot of full QUAL courses.
anyone who thinks training is not an issue just doesn’t understand all that’s involved.
as far as a CA to FO short course.....we don’t have one. We have a short upgrade course, maybe it could be used? Would require an AQP revision and FAA approval. Nothing is simple when dealing with bureaucracy

One thing looks pretty clear, WHEN the Max returns, it will be ultra safe due to all the scrutiny it has gone through, no plane has ever gone through this amount of detailed certification. They are looking at everything with a fine tooth comb.

Unfortunately it is too late. $24.7 trillion and increasing every day. Plus $70 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Do you really think this country will ever pay that back?? The only “good news” is that the majority of the world’s largest economies are in not much better shape. Print, print, print is all most governments can do right now. Sad, but true.
