Sad but true. Someone has to say it.

No Concessions.

No furloughs. Hopefully.

Be in the best position to make us stronger than before.

Have our cake and eat in too. Yes please.

Let’s trust the Union to protect our interests, and I believe they will.

Finally, everything seems to be trending in the right direction. Thought I was definitely getting furloughed...not so sure anymore. Cheer!

Why would this one temporary bandaid, if you will, rip us in the future? If there’s something I’m not seeing, I’m just trying to see what it is.
I agree. I don't see why the company would ever want to make a temporary reduction in line value the status quo. Kirby's explanation of making it temporary in able to be in a position to quickly snap back with demand in the event of a vaccine but also allow us to retain more liquidity makes sense to me...unless I'm missing something.

Yet, during the most profitable time in airline history, we couldn’t secure contract advancements. Are you really naive enough to think we will ever get back what we give away today?
This. And if we do give concession, we’d be negotiating on a new contract from a weak position...for years. And then we’d arrive at a T/A that is right where we are now and high-five each other about all our “contractual gains”. No Thanks.

Looking around the company and from a management perspective, the only 2 low hanging fruits I see from the companies perspective is getting rid of the 756 and 764 fleets, and the pilot contract.

BK judge: “What was your pilot payroll cost last month to sustain operation?”

UAL: “300 million.”

BL judge: “OK, cut that 20%.”

ALPA: “But that was after we lost 40% in displacements and then a voluntary reduction in hours!”

BK judge:

UAL: “20% it is, roger!”

ALPA: “But we had an ironclad agreement!”

UAL: “Also, we’re going to furlough.”

Default Sick leave bank

Anyone know if you retain your sick leave bank when furloughed in order to use when you return? Checked the contract and couldn't find anything.

Correct.

And the earned, but unused, vacation is paid out—-it does not just disappear.
