Furlough estimate

Modifying the contract in anyway that reduces our cost to the company sets a terrible precedent. FULL PAY TO THE LAST DAY.
lower line guarantee on the other hand makes us more expensive to the company when flying catches up with retirements IE we need to start hiring again.
this has nothing to do with concessions and has everything to do with sticking your neck our for another pilot. Even if it isn’t linear as has been argued, If it takes 8 pilots to save one pilot, how would you feel if you were in the crew room knowing that just 8 guys could save another’s marriage, kids QOL, etc??
I get that I’m closer to this than many because I was flying with a bunch of half wingers right before this began, but this isn’t some “for the good of the profession” abstract argument, it’s guys/gals we’re going to share a cockpit with for the rest of our careers

Gotta love this BS selfish attitude. We are all in this together… unless it affects me personally, then screw the junior pilots. SK knows the union is not going to buy off on reduced pay rates or permanent contract changes. Reducing the hours across-the-board for everyone will obviously be a short term mitigation plan to avoid furloughs. Why would you not be in favor of that? Do you not give two ******s that people are going to end up on the street? Don’t answer that, it’s obvious what the answer is.

SK is not Delta management. He is not margin driven. Sure he likes a HJ from Wall Street, what CEO doesn’t, but market share and global presence are what he wants.

I understand the reservations of guys who have seen this show before. History does repeat itself. Us younger pilots blowing off the experience and knowledge of our elder peers is a mistake. I was at a regional and on the street for the lost decade and I never want to experience that again or have another pilot go through it. That said, I would support an LOA for a 50-60 hr MPG with a firm 6 month expiration from dos with a rock solid no furlough provision. I would also volunteer for a 6 month 50 hour MPG with a no furlough provision if given the opportunity. The UPA MUST remain untouched. It’s taken way too long to claw back some of the concessions our profession endured after 9/11 and we are still a long way off.
I’ll be gone, but oh my how many times have I seen this played out before? The response and evolution is predictably the same ;
1. NO CONCESSIONS, FULL PAY TILL THE LAST DAY, MAINTAIN THE CONTRACT
2. HEY, YOU SENIOR GUYS HAVE HAD A LOT OF GOOD YEARS, BE A SPORT AND AGREE TO LOWER HOURS, (that’s really not a concession you know).
3.CRAP, THOSE CONCESSIONS WE GAVE EM WHEN THIS STARTED WERE REALLY A BAD IDEA, WERE GONNA GET EM ON THE NEXT CONTRACT!
And for whomever said the contract wasn’t constructed to account for a downturn like this; there have always been downturns and furlough threats, since de-regulation. That is one reason the MPG exists. This one is just of a different nature. SS,DD.

Stop negotiating in public. This is the 1st quarter of a long game. You voted for or should have voted for people to negotiate with your best interests in mind. Let the process work.

Exactly!!! All we're doing when we negotiate in public is cut our negotiators legs out from underneath them. We make their jobs exponentially more difficult.

A message to all who are looking for ways to help the company or giving ideas for concessions.
We are already giving significant concessions because we don't have an on time contract. Please remember that when the company comes to us for contractual relief, or you volunteer to give up pay or time for free.
Remember, reserve is a choice.

You can continue to beat the company concessionary drum... they love to read posts like yours.
