It seems so cryptic the way it came out, especially when passed along by the uninformed. They may also be sending a message to the govt iso more round 2 $, don’t you think? I’d give them credit for wanting to work that lever hard rather than wanting to drop manpower (perhaps) prematurely. They still have to play the odds on being competitively positioned for a recovery wIthout a training/re-hire bottleneck in the way. If/when demand comes back, it’ll be a race to grab market share and revenue quickly to offset losses&debt and keep the banks happy.

I'm hoping that's part of his plan. Because if his true plan is to slash employees/costs as quickly as he can to try to show a 4th quarter profit, then he's not seeing the forest through the trees in regards to the long term. That is my fear. Trying to make a name for himself right off the bat as some sort of savior to the shareholders where he can show a short term profit due to massive cuts. United has had enough terrible management in the past with that mindset.

The real winners here are whatever consulting firm or image agency they paid tens of millions of dollars to to come up with the whole thing. Same people who came up with TED?

Your darn right.
no quarter. Nothing gets waived. May and must.... what’s the difference? Will and shall?
we gotta fight for every single comma in that contract. It’s nothing personal, just business.
the stronger our enforcement the sooner the furloughs are back and the more leverage the union has in the next contract.

BTW... Anybody in the market for a boat???

SWA is burning roughly 1B/month with over 15B of liquidity without taking any extra money from the government or private market. Add in the fact that they predominately fly domestic.... I don’t think you need to work at SWA to believe that they’ll get through this pandemic in pretty good shape.
