Thats the entire point of having seniority. For most of us, this can be an enticing part of an airline career, in that the more senior you get, the more chance of having some relative stability in your life. And no, I’m not some senior guy thats not being affected. Getting displaced to the right seat next month.

WTF do you want the guy to do? It sucks for everyone. It sucks most for those at the bottom, we get that. That is the life of the union airline pilot. Rather than feeling sorry for yourself, and angry at others, start doing positive things. I say this as someone who has been furloughed.

Ummm, I’m not “complaining”. Not sure where you got that from. I’m thankful to still have a job. The only reason I mentioned that was so you knew my perspective. This my 4th airline, so I’ve been furloughed numerous times before.

See that’s the difference between us. I am not feeling sorry or angry for myself. I am feeling sorry for those 2850 pilots that are losing their jobs.

I don’t think he’s complaining, he’s trying to explain to you that in a seniority based system everyone has currency, some more than others. Does it suck in a downturn? Yes it does. Is this the first time it has ever happened? No it’s not. Will it happen again in the future? Almost definitely.

for your reference I ha e no anger this is what it is. I don’t blame anyone at this company for the situation we are in. It’s not condescending to tell some they better study before they speak. It’s advice that will keep you from making a fool out of yourself.
