There's been no appreciable spread of covid19 from the NYC protests showing up in the data, though. Shows how effective masks are and how outside activities are much safer. Obviously, some people didn't wear masks, but if 80% are that still cuts down on transmission by quite a bit, and many protesters were masked.
This seems huge and I don't understand why it isn't getting more play. This study shows that gathering in large groups absolutely does NOT spread the virus. Large gatherings are fine now if you wear a mask.

Isn't there a Covid sub-forum on APC for all the amateur epidemiologists?

The droplet that CONTAINS the virus is much bigger than the virus. The point is to contain droplets. Is it really necessary to explain that to you on a first grade level?

Can you really not comprehend the difference between basic, easy and cheap (but not 100% foolproof... er, Florida-proof) preventive measures like broad mask use (to prevent YOUR spread) and social distancing, vs a lawyer-proof 100% effective mask (not cheap, easy or practical and really not going to happen)?

I wonder what someone who has your opinions thinks of European and Asian countries that are down to tiny fractions of our infection rates and death totals? Is their success just magic?

What a great post! I’m truly embarrassed for some of these guys on here. My wife is an ER doctor in one of the worst COVID spots in our country. Every day she is in contact as well as intubating COVID patients. After all her exposure she still has negative antibodies. Guess it isn’t the N95, just dumb luck. I’ll let her know she should just ditch the mask because APC wonder pilots say they are worthless.

Ok let’s talk common sense here. Everyone SHOULD know surgical masks have their limits of what they can and can’t do. They are not N95’s and are not designed to do what an N95 does. They have the ability to reduce the effective spread of a virus if everyone wears them. It doesn’t mean that it’s 100% going to prevent the spread but they can help reduce the spread. Enter the mask company legal department that knows it’s product isn’t designed to perform like an N95. They aren’t stupid and know this lawsuit happy population would be all over their ass if they got the virus while wearing their product.

As mentioned earlier, did all of these densely populated cities around Asia and Europe crush the spread due to magic or was it population accountability by masking and distancing? I guess since you have some underlined picture of legal disclaimer, it must be magic that has lead to their success overseas.

That statement is for liability.

The virus travels in saliva droplets. The masks prevent them from leaving your mouth. If everybody wears them, less droplets in the air. Ask your shrink, he'll know.

If you still don't get it, maybe you should take that cog test that Trump took. Evidently he did tremendously on it. Everybody said so. They couldn't believe it.
