Nope some have been mentioning it too our union leaders and even some company leaders for some time now. Doesn't really matter pretty much out of our control. But these comments didn't just start.

This is an honest question, and not intended to sound sarcastic.

So people have been mentioning to union and company leadership that United Airlines was growing to aggressively?

this is meant to sound sarcastic.

Did they like the Jeff Smisek approach of shrinking to profitability better?

Did they see a global pandemic coming, and know that we should be an airline with only 5000 pilots?

No they did not like Smisek approach at all. No they did not see the "global pandemic" coming they did think that a turn down in the economy was a definite possibility. Or maybe it was just a lucky guess.

Sorry Master it is worded incorrectly, it was the money being spent and how the company was managed and the debt that was accumulating. But hey however you want to look at it. We are here now. Good luck.

UAL and all the airlines should have bought their own stock 10 years ago when they were all in the low single digit range. They could have sold them at 90.

Instead they bought on the way to 90, and are now selling cheap. I am pretty sure that is not how successful investing is suppose to work.

I guess I would be better off buying and selling stock - too UAL.

One of the problems with bailouts is you end up bailing out the banks and bondholders. American tax dollars for the middle class will keep the payments coming to the people who least need it. We are in this together, we need to all pay for it, including banks and bondholders.

I don't know how to do that outside of bankruptcy. The problem is how to you put the whole airline industry through bankruptcy at the same time.

Maybe legalized forebearance for airport fees, aircraft payments, etc. Maybe that is better than tax dollars going through the airlines as pass thru entities to pay off the bondholders.

If the fall is as bad as our spring and this summer is going to be that will be essentially 9 straight months of craptastic economic performance. it won't just be the airline industry it will be all industries except medical and medical supply companies.

It's very possible that there is a global recession and a US depression. Unless we can figure out a way to go about our business and FUNCTION during the fall-winter flu season and the resurgence of Chinese Corona Virus this cold and flu season will look bleak.

To make matters wore, if the other party gets in power they will just tax us to the stone age and use that money to fund alternative energy, expand government, and grow social programs. In addition they will push for damages for slavery during the colonial and post colonial period while letting China off the hook legally and economically. They will simply send aid money, that we don't have to all sorts of foreign countries and causes.

It's all about the right approach to money. Is money a tool to be used to do work? Or, is a tool to be stolen from those that do the work in an effort to accomplish your hidden agenda?
