Default May - eSRL Round 2

The SSC disagrees with the Company's decision not to increase the Round 2 offers with straight 50-hour monthly SRLs, or E-SRLs with delayed pay having a total monthly value greater than 50 hours.
Any questions?

Thats my plan. I don’t live in base, but 33 hrs pay will buy a bunch of hotel rooms. My fleet only has a few trips for the month. Outside of a few pop up freight charters that will quickly get picked up by others, I don’t expect to get a call.

Yeah, but .. One trip, one layover to a hot spot, a careless hotel room keeper at the layover hotel, an asymptomatic check in clerk, et alia. What value do you place on your health and your families health? I'm not sure I could live with myself going forward if, through my desire for an extra 10 hours, I brought home COVID to my family. My loyalty is to my family, not United Airlines. I, personally, would rather shelter in place for an additional month (May) and give the pandemic some extra time to simmer down. Guess that's why the options are voluntary. The fact that we are given an option to stay home and yet still receive partial pay as well as full benefits in lieu of a Leave of Absence is a blessing.

Enjoy your vacation . You know however that statistically you’ve get a better chance of suffering injury in an auto accident than from getting the China virus, in this country anyway.

It's a question of conscience and choice, not statistics .. in hindsight, can I tell myself I did my utmost to protect my family, or did I take my 20 pieces of silver.

You made the right choice for you, and I don’t disagree with your logic. I’m hoping that a low response leads to a 3rd improvement. Statistically I’d say that my odds are no worse going to the grocery store than they are flying an empty plane to a layover in a hotspot. If you only got 20 pieces of silver, you got ripped off. Judas got 30.

Joking about the 20 pieces, not comparing you in any way to Judas

Well said.

As a side note, I don’t understand the anger people aim at the company for not being offered a larger SRL. Yes, I’d like a larger one too. But no one is forcing any of us to take it. And if enough don’t take it, the company will have decide what they want to do. No need to get angry. It is within their rights as per the UPA.

people are not angry with the company, but with the union for the Recent concession ESRLs LOA instead of keeping the 50hr SRL already in our contract. Do blame them for turning us into independent contractors.
I hope round 2 is still a failure and round 3 restores the 50 hr SRL.
my point was that if enough people hold out the company will sweeten the pot even further.
If they don’t sweeten the pot then they will b paying me 73 hours v.s. 50 hours
either way I’ll be home with thousands on reserve.

The difference in pay between 40 hours and 73 hours (not counting the delayed 10 hours for single month since they risk it in bankruptcy) is more than the average American makes a month. Almost a 50% pay cut...
I still can’t believe the Union agreed to this to start since it was already in the UPA for SRL lines.
Apparently we have a lot of fishermen in management.
