Furlough pay?

Unless air travel miraculously bounces back, they're going to clean the employees out and decimate the contracts of those left in CH 11. UA will be a shadow of what it is today. Managers mismanage and then they are richly rewarded while "fixing" things on the backs of the worker-bees.
Six months saved isn't enough these days. If I were an FNG these days, I'd jam it away.

The only thing I watched was the 10 minute recap of Oscar and Scott’s town hall. I remember Scott saying payroll. What ever the case I don’t think furloughs will be as bad as some think but make no mistake furloughs are coming.

30% or X or Y is pure useless semantics right now. Nothing much matters until we see whether people are flying/booking in 3-5 months or not. If there’s some return of revenue we’re in good shape. No revenue, and standby for some serious turbulence.

Add to that, SK mentioned the caveat that the problem with furloughing pilots is that we won't be able to bounce back quickly when needed. Trying not to be cynical...maybe that is him implying that we may furlough less than necessary to make sure there is a cushion of people available. Or, at least that is what my confirmation bias wants to hear....

And so it could ultimately boil down to:
”we need all hands on deck @ X% pay reduction x Y months” vs. “keep the UPA in tact and furlough however many you need to and SRM as needed in the short term as things start moving”
I’m confident that ALPA will be out in front of this so we aren’t faced with a “pick your poison” approach at our kitchen tables come June.

it’s obvious you’re not. You posted this:
‘Unless air travel miraculously bounces back, they're going to clean the employees out and decimate the contracts of those left in CH 11.’
we heard that California and Australia would be on fire forever. We heard that billions of animals died. We heard that there would be no coming back from those disasters.
going back a bit further, we were also told that H1N1 was going to be the defining moment of Obama’s presidency. Have you been to the Obama libarry? When you get to the parking gate, do they take your temperature and then, as you leave, do you get a souvenir piece of paper stating whether or not you were one of the one who got H1N1 on your tour? All kidding aside, no way the swine flu “defined” Obama’s presidency...but that’s what THEY all said would happen
it’s time for calmer, cooler heads to prevail, don’t you think?

at the same time he’s is planning on a 30% reduction in demand. He stated that publically and filed an 8-K with the SEC.
sure, it would be great if it turns out differently but behind the scene there is a “shovel ready” plan to park the 756, start the bump game and furlough the bottom 1000 right of the bat.

Stillest,
My comment, "I'm not?" was directed at ALPA. They just opened up our wallets to Wilis in the first round with the E-SRL That does not inspire my confidence in them.

Clearly, the Chinese don't have these standards. God isn't preventing the Chinese from having food and food safety standards as well as airborne virus prevention and blood borne pathogen prevention. Odd isn't it: China is a communist -totalitarian state. If they wanted to enact and enforce standards they could. If they want citizens to shut up and to disappear they can do that pretty well. having a frozen food section and a prohibition from selling dog seems easy.
A hurricane might be an act of God, but a preventable pandemic....I don't buy it.
